Segue, but finally got a piece of art for our family room. Painter is Sigrid Sandström. I don't love all her stuff but this one just struck me. (And fit well.)




Now just waiting on some shelves for the alcove next to the chimney and a proper rug. Probably also need a nicer fireplace door/screen -- maybe something in bronze or brass?

I'm going to piggyback on this segue and ask what I should do with a painting ordered online that was delivered with the frame shattered. GF noted that I can bring it to local Michael store to have them replace the frame. The painting is still in the packaging since 2020? I never opened because every time I move the package around I can hear the glass moving.

Cannot locate a copy online, it was "It Only Takes One, 2019 | Matt Wohlrab"

a painting under glass ? what is the medium ?

if it is watercolor or maybe gouache I could see glass ( you want to use glass to filter if the pigments are fugitive , prone to fade in sunlight etc ) ,

if it is acrylic or oil it would do better unglazed , glass can hurt those works . did the artist frame it ?

no I got that . the question i'm asking is why was it under glass ? are the pigments uv sensitive ? did the artist frame it

if the medium is oil or acrylic it doesn't have to be glazed and probably shouldn't . I think you mentioned it was a painting

Just got word that our house sale has closed (we signed the contracts yesterday). This feels like a huge weight off my shoulders after the problems we’ve had: I had to clear out a bunch of branches after the last big snowstorm, and we had to replace the sewer main because there was a belly (sag) in the line. Fortunately, that was covered under warranty, but was a huge pain to deal with. I did reseed the scar.

The sag in the line was discovered during inspection. That first buyer backed out of the contract once they saw the issue. The second buyers knew about it going in, and we just had to get the work done before closing.

The guy who had installed the line two years ago came out to scope the line. I guess they'd switched subcontractors at some point after we had the work done because they'd been seeing some half-assed work from those guys. It took a fair amount of prodding to get the work done on time, but at least the job supervisor is a standup dude.

And hey, we made some money on the sale, so it's all good now.

So scoping a sewer is standard in the sale of homes? I'm amazed the original passed the plumbing inspection.

Scoping a line is standard if there’s issues with drainage from the lines. I wasn’t there for that, so don’t know what the inspector saw. We also never got the report, just what the realtor told us.

In my parts a sewer scope is VERY common (as long as the market is not so hot that buyers are waiving inspections in general). Not part of a "standard" inspection, but potential buyers of most older homes will insist on one.

This place was built in 1969, so it certainly qualifies as older.

Was off getting Cottonseed meal and saw this Shishigashira ... Monrovia is one of the better growers around here and this guy has nice size.

$160... had to grab it at that price.
