Thanks, that's what I thought. So the quality of Sperry's aren't that bad for the price I suppose.

Add Sebago on to your list. Their construction is a bit sturdier than Sperry.

Where can I find some quality boatshoes? I am looking at Sperry's. What do you guys think about this:

http://us.asos.com/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1814695

http://www.sperrytopsider.com/store...ctId=7-103710&catId=cat100080DM&searched=true

Can anyone tell the difference between the two because I cant.

When buying any of these boat shoes you want to make sure that you get one with good support and one that comes in widths to get a good fit. Otherwise with these flat soled shoes you asking to get plantar fasciitis.

The shoes you've linked aren't really what comes to mind when you think of "boat shoes." Those are canvas sneakers with a moc toe and 360* lacing. If you want to stay in the sub $100 range for a pair of real boat shoes (leather, hand-stitched toe and heel, razor-siped boat sole) I would suggest the Timberland version over both Sperry AO's and Sebago Docksides. I've had three pairs and I think they're the best in their category. Padded tongue, razor-siped, welted sole, comfortable out of the box and no seams in the upper to rub your feet raw. Plus, they can be had for about half the regular price at a Timberland outlet with a coupon.

If you want to step up into the Made in Maine category, I'd recommend Rancourt.

Here at the beach in NC, boat shoes are pretty common fair. I am actually wearing them right now.

I bought some John Varvtos boat shoes this summer. They are grey with white soles. Much dressier than my couple pairs of sperry . Get a lot of compliments on them

They look like these, , http://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/John-...944&ci_sku=prod121690027skuRED&CS_003=5630585 but with laces and in a dark gray color.

If you want them for use on a real boat, get Sperry.

If you want a fashion version try the JV versions.

Here are some cool ones, http://www.zappos.com/john-varvatos-schooner-clip-black-calf

If you got some coin, get the aligator spery gold cup.

Personal favorites are made by Rancourt. The make the Made in USA mocs, boat shoes and chukkas for RL. All handmade in Maine.

ok this is a bad idea. Boat shoes are supposed to be basically flip-flops with some toe protection. Everything else looks like an abomination. Re: the alligator thing above.

Like everything, there are boat shoes and there are GOOD boat shoes. And they are not flip flops which no normal man would wear anyway.. Obvioiusly you don't own a yacht and have probably never even been on one. Boat shoes are not walking around shoes and if you're buying these cheap under $100 kind to walk around in then I suggest you buy a larger size and put a Spenco hard insert in for support.

So I guess that you can't afford good ones then use the arches in the cheap shoes. A lot of this crap you teens and 20 somethings do when you're young and stupid comes back to haunt you after you grow up at 40 which I guess at your age is like a million years lol
Athletes 1/2 my age are in worse condition than me because they abused their bodies when young.
