Buying first Jantzen shirt

I think I am going to take the plunge and order a shirt from Jantzen. Any ideas on the current wait time?

I am thinking of getting KT #0089 White Very Small Herringbone, seems like its been successful for others.

My main question is, how do I correctly measure myself? It would seem like measuring the shoulders would be a little tricky. Any other measuring hints?

Thanks in advance.

If you are into special projects then by all means.
I just went to FB and bought 10 Baldessarini shirts for 29.99 each.
I think it is a clusterfuck to go through with Jentzen , besides you will never get it right on the first try.

You follow the instructions on the Jantzen website. You also measure the best fitting shirt you have and include those measurements in your order. You should get pretty close on your first try (only order one shirt). I and many others on this board have been successful at self-measurement and ordering through Jantzen. It's well worth it.

Yeah, the order form instructions are the way to do it. My order was pretty good, but a tad smaller/fitted than I normally like. I chose the second-tightest fitting, and probably should have just gone with the regular one.

On turnaround time, I have heard that he's insanely busy - mostly from this forum. I placed an order a month ago and have yet to receive any sort of confirmation. That's part of the fun with this - great shirts, great price, but by all means find someone else to make your shirts if you need some sort of regular way to purchase them. I have also had luck with mytailor.com and Lands End custom, both making essentially perfect shirts on the second try (but for a definite premium over Jantzen.)

My tip: Be as specific about what you want as possible. Make sure you know how you want the shirt to fit, and describe that as precisely as you can. Then triple check your measurements. (I also measured out a well-fitting shirt and tweaked that, to make sure I had a good base pattern.)

I've put in my order for over 3 months now, without any sort of confirmation, so go figure.

I had similar questions recently. I placed an order a little over a month ago and sent follow up e-mails to confirm that he received the order and I haven't heard a peep. While I'm not bitching about it it can be confusing to someone that doesn't know better. I guess I'll just be surprised one day when a package arrives.

Yep. Best to place the order and forget about it. If it comes, great; if not, no money or energy lost. The only time to worry is if you get billed and your shirt doesn't show up.

I just got my first Lands End shirt in 100s broadcloth. I've read here that I should wash it twice before evaluating changes. Does it need significant wear between washings to stretch the threads or something, or can I just throw it in two consecutive white loads?

Is there anything else I should know before I order version 0.2? (I'll post pics of that one - my eye is certainly critical enough to get the gross adjustments out of the way.)
