Hey Kiya,

I have a question about the IH 9634s that I received from your store last month. I don't want high contrast fades on these. I actually would like to keep these as black as possible. But with my raw rigid jeans I start showing visible honeycombs after a few wearings. So I was thinking that I would like to make these soft like regular trousers or soft like the 634s to avoid the sharp creasing behind the knees. I am planning on washing the jeans and throwing them in the dryer for a bit but not bone dry. What are you thoughts on this? Do you have any other ideas on how to handle this? And what is your experience with the fading properties of the 9634.

Thanks!

I bought a pair of these jeans about 6 months ago, and in that time I have seen no noticeable fading. I have washed them multiple times, worn them 3 to 4 times weekly, and by no means babied them. In my opinion, you purchased the right jeans if you don't want fades.

As far as washing, the jeans don't shrink much, maybe just a tightening-up of the fit for a few hours/days and the color doesn't go anywhere. Wash them when ever you like, as the risk of ruining them(or changing them in any way) is pretty low.

Just my 2 cents...

My Flat Head's came in yesterday, and I soaked them/ dried them today and the fit is spot on. As always, happy with Self Edge's service and especially their products.

We only have partial restocks right now because much of our stock is being sold at the Inazuma Denim Festival in Tokyo in 3 hours.. which is where we're at right now.

Once we get home we're doing a full restock of our line in a day or two.

Flat Head Black Mint Shirt - Aging Differently

Flat Head has finally gotten us a shipment of the Black Mint shirt... A shirt where the fabric was developed by Flat Head and designed to age with wear but not in the traditional sense of "fading".

This shirt is made of a new fabric by Flat Head; they start out with a soft black pressed outer / brushed inner felt fabric then they silkscreen a mini grid pattern on the shirt. With wear the grid pattern wears off and leave just the black back-ground on high wear areas such as the elbows, arm pits, etc..

It's difficult to explain in words what the shirt looks like after some wear, but it's quite amazing as we've had one that has been worn in for six months on and off and it's like nothing we've seen before.

The Flat Head Black Mint Shirt is now available in-store and in our online store:

Flat Head Herringbone Button-Down - COTTON DUCK APPROVED

From Flat Head's Fall Collection comes this herringbone button down with cat's eye buttons made of a super soft woven cotton fabric.

This is a bit of a different style for Flat Head but we're liking it very much. The cut and feel of the shirt is great and the selvedge fabric detailing down the inside front and at the side seams is also a nice touch.

Cotton Duck approves this garment in every way, which is no surprise considering his taste for fine garments produced in a vintage style.

Available now in our online store:

Kiya,

My best-fitting (waist-wise) jeans are a new pair of Levi's 514s 36W that measure to 19" across.

I'm looking at three jeans on your site - the Iron Heart 461 and the Imperial King in 36" and the IH 634S in either 36 or 38. I've never owned dry jeans before (or really ones that fit particularly well and needed to stretch rather than being belted from the start - old skate habits have died hard) - do you think a 36 would work in any of them, and is the 38 likely to be too big once stretched?

EDIT: Not sure it's relevant, but I'm about 6'1" 220#.
