If you want cops to take a head shot on you you go right ahead and walk around with a bulletproof vest...if you want to wear a bulletproof vest join the service and serve your country...

Yes, I have a strong feeling this 'style' wouldn't last long in public with our local law enforcement, definitly not in Chicago. They would be all over you in seconds with 3 cars curious why you think you need to be wearing a bullett kelvar vest in public.

Certain parts of my city have a notoriously high crime rate. I live in a very nice area, but even one mile West of me becomes one of the worst parts of the US. I often find myself travelling through these areas for thrift stores, to visit friends, or to reach other parts of the city I need to be. I have thought about purchasing a flak jacket while going to these areas, as I have known several people who were gunned down and killed for their money, or for the food they were delivering.

Why, dear God? WHY? Aren't there enough possible clothing combinations out there for you?
Why not get the gas mask to complete the ensemble?

If you feel you are in serious peril of your life, buy it and wear it as an UNDERGARMENT the way the cops do! (I am not sure whether there is any federal law banning possession and ownership of these things by non-police personnel. Local ordinances would, of course, vary.) There are also a number of firms making "tactical vests" that can accept Kevlar panels. I still think they look like holy hell (I just sent three of the things back to the maker who had comp'd me with them simply because I had no use for them), but at least they are not utterly grotesque, as wearing the type of bullet-proof vest shown would be.

Well, if you have everything else perhaps, just to fulfill your need for shopping, I guess it could be something to get

It's a tacky exaggeration of a legitimate style, same way as indie rockers wear jeans that are painted on and a t-shirt that's too small.

In Anglo-American (for lack of a better term) street casual, the cut is closer fitting, I guess as a nod towards the shrink-to-fit and underwear roots of denim and t-shirts.

In African-American street casual, the cut is looser, not baggy but more cut along the lines of a sack suit.

Try and find a brown leather one. It will age beautifully!
