In light of a recent coffee thread... what is the correct coffee dosage per, say, 6 oz of water? What is th best way to measure off such dosage when grindng beans? Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk

There's a place near here that does Hario drip cones, they use 24, 25, or 26 grams per 8 oz cup. they use a digital scale.

I wonder if volume is more accurate, because drier beans might weigh less than light roast. not sure.

French Press:

  • 1 rounded tablespoon to 1 Cup water.
  • Pour boiling water over grounds.
  • Stir.
  • Let steep for 4 min.
  • Skim grounds from surface

Tweak recipe based on your taste.

It is better to let the water come off the boil before pouring onto the beans. Boiling water scortches the beans.

I have tried boiling water, and I have tried waiting 15 seconds for the water to cool. I prefer boiling. It gives the coffee a much bolder taste.

Some people prefer a milder coffee, and I respect that. OP should try both ways. You make coffee everyday.

Tea is a different matter. You can really scorch it with boiling water and over steeping. No one likes that.

Why are you skimming grounds from a french press?

french press you shouldn't stir, you should pat gently no more than once a minute. you should also pour a small amount of water over the beans for the first 45 seconds while rotating the press. it'l cause the coffee to foam/bubble/etc and then pour the rest of the water in for the remaining 3 mins and 15 seconds. try it.
