Parkers Heritage Cask Strength - delicious big sweet bourbon. Not as good as Stagg though.

Drinking a Pio-inspired Manhattan. I've notice that Pio always adds a splash of kirsch, so today I added a splash of St. Germain. It turned out well.

2oz Rittenhouse Rye - Bottled in Bond
1oz Vya sweet vermouth
Splash St. Germain
2 Dash Angostura Bitters
1 Dash Fee Bro's peach bitters
Stir with ice and garnish with a twist

Martini, dry, up. Old Raj, Vya extra dry, a few strands Spanish saffron muddled into the vermouth.

Stirred.

Michter's 10 yo Bourbon. Good, but not as good as the Michter's rye.

Micther's makes a rye? Never seen that one before. Just the Micthers 10 and standard burbons.

Oh do they ever. You've got to try it. One of the finest ryes I have had:

Unfortunately for me, I can't get the Michter's 10yo rye where I live. I love rye and I'm drying to try it, along with Old Potrero. Those two are on my wish-list right now.

Cracked a bottle of Stefania Winery Haute Taubee, 2007. Nice red blend for table wine. Could use a little further bottle aging to mellow the tannin.

They have it here for $62.99, marked down from $80 IIRC..

Having the Handy Sazerac rye right now. Had to cut this one with a splash of water, as I could not get past the burn. Very nice, and much more complex flavors than most ryes I have tried.

Dinner was scallops, langastino tails, mushrooms, and asparagus. So I thought this would be perfect:

I was right. Paul and Stefania did a great job. Light oak, very light secondary mallo-lactic. Well done.

Great price for that rye. Its one of my favorites, I love the floral + pepper combination.

How do you like the Handy straight (or with a little water)? I love it now and I think in seven, eight years it will be amazing.

Just had a few glasses of a grocery store Cabernet (Natura organic, not terrible) and am now on to Coke & Evan Williams.
