^ Peal shoes by Alden? Is that right? Highly skeptical as BB stresses the ^#@$ out of them being made in England. I know AS made some but Loake also sounds incorrect - at least now. Maybe in the past.

There are no Peals made by Alden.

To continue this topic, these C&J Peal shoes (I believe) are higher quality than benchgrade, but lower than handgrade. It has a closed-channeled sole, which is only typically found in the handgrade line.

It seems as though this is the conventional wisdom on the subject, but good luck getting any competent answers from any BB customer service folks. Most of them don't even know that "Peal & Co." doesn't actually make shoes.

I don't think so. Most are on the BB-exclusive 240, while the U-Throat austerity wing is on the 341.

I have a low instep and the 348 fits me well. Does the 341 have a similar instep?

Is the 240 last (BB Peals) similar to the barrie last or it's much more narrower? I presume the 240 last is not as narrow as the 5-last right?

I don't think it is as wide as the Barrie last. For reference, I typically wear a 9.5D US and an 8.5E UK in C&J, and 9D in Alden Barrie last. I have a pair of 9.5C BB peal monkstraps. I probably would have gone with the standard 9.5D, but I had some heel slip due to the shoe being a monkstrap, so I had to go down 1 width.
As for comparison to the 5 last (I assume you mean Allen Edmonds 5 last?), it is definitely not as narrow. I would never fit in a 9.5C in the AE 5 last. I typically wear a 9.5E in that last.

The toe box of the 240 is higher than the Barrie (indeed, generally too high for my liking - too roomy), though overall the last is not quite as wide as the Barrie. It is definitely not as narrow as AE's 5 last (not even close).

So I measued my Ashdown PTB last 341 vs Harlech Boot 341 and indeed the boots measure wider in both the heel and waist. Length was the same. FYI. The C&J NYC store manager said they were on the exact same last. Not true. Boots run slightly larger. My guess this also holds true for the Marlow Wings and Lindrick. I dumped my wings because they are too warm in my climate. Someone else with both could measure the Marlows .. But NAMOR and I had long suspected this to be the case with the C&J RL line.
