Yeah, some. I'm sure some thought I was being a kiss-ass and others don't give a shit. I don't really care. When it comes down to it, my boss is going to look out for me/give me the benefit of the doubt.

I decided not to get him anything. I just had a long conversation with him before I left for Xmas and wished him well. It seems the safest thing to do.

I was in a similar situation last year. I gave my boss two cheap web-cams, one for him and one to mail home. Face-to-face conversations with his family made him happier than most gifts I could think of.
