There's the operative word. Most people don't really need an iPad imo. Some, even many, buy it because it's the COOL and NEW and AWESOME thing and then once they have it for a few days or weeks they realize it doesn't fill in this magical niche and they realize they spent quite a large chunk of change on something they don't use all that much. I know quite a few people who fall in this category. If you really do use it a lot for work or pleasure then I'm glad you found a device that fits your needs! Some of that previous post I made was a joke anyways.
Gotcha. I'll admit I'm a gadget whore, but a selective one. For example, I don't own an iPod because I have no use for it. I could argue against most gadgets I own as being superfluous because I don't use any one gadget a lot. However, that's only because my time is spread across many gadgets that I don't consciously select between but rather simply pick up and use. It's intuitive for me to pick up a Kindle to go to the pool and read or my iPad to catch up on e-mail and news in bed. Of course, if it came down to it, I could technically live with just a cheap desktop PC and a basic phone since that combination would be sufficient for watching Appreciation and sending drunk texts.
