I know what you mean about protecting against blocks but it seems like he is worried about more than blocks (and you need to protect against blocks more if you have a weak handle). He uses the left well for crossovers but on real drives, it looks weak. But I am no scout. I only thought of this because after watching the video, something seemed repetitive and I watched again and it was. It was almost all from one side.
steve nash and rondo often finish layups on the left side with the right hand.... but they'll go left when it has to be left to avoid blocks and block out with the right.
the more important thing is to see if he's driving left using the left hand for the dribble.
