steve nash and rondo often finish layups on the left side with the right hand.... but they'll go left when it has to be left to avoid blocks and block out with the right.
the more important thing is to see if he's driving left using the left hand for the dribble.

Watch and tell me what you think. I know what you mean about protecting against blocks but it seems like he is worried about more than blocks (and you need to protect against blocks more if you have a weak handle). He uses the left well for crossovers but on real drives, it looks weak. But I am no scout. I only thought of this because after watching the video, something seemed repetitive and I watched again and it was. It was almost all from one side.

It's been posted but everyone has their weakness. He isn't very good on defense either but we got to give credit where it is due, he has faced good to elite PGs in the past 3 games (Wall, DWill & Harris (yeah Harris sucks now)). And in those 3 games, Amare & Melo weren't in two of them and they still won. Lin may not finish with his left (or choose not to) but his quick first step and dribbling skills has helped him get on the basket and his mediocre athleticism (mediocre in the NBA at least) has helped him finish. He is shooting close to 60% in the field in the past 3 games and I think more than half of those are around the rim. Left hand or not, he is finishing around the basket and executing the plays resulting in wins. His 15 minutes might be up soon with defense going after him but he proved that he can be a legit PG in the NBA. He won't average 20pts/10ast in his career but doing that 3 times in a row and result in a win for the crappy Knicks, got to give him credit for that.

This is interesting. It's been reported that Pau, Rondo and Jennings didn't make the ASG. Reserves will be announced tonight. I really hope Nowitzki doesn't make it, it'll be stupid to pick him over Pau. I mean I think Aldridge & Love deserves to be there more than Pau but Pau is is doing much better than Dirk this year w/o a question.

Watch this and tell me how many times he uses his left hand. A few crossovers and weak drives.
Can he finish with his left? Watch how often he avoids having to finish with his left inside. This does not look like NBA point guard skills.
I am no scout and may not be seeing the right things, but I have to believe that now that people have heard of him, this will show up on every scouting report.

these are good points - his left hand is fairly useless. he also doesn't seem to have much explosiveness. everyone from now on is going to force him left.

in fairness though, there's some good things to see here. he always seems to catch people off guard with that first step (which doesn't look particularly quick but very well timed), and with that hesitation dribble/drive. he's very crafty with his layups and dips the ball and protects it with his body (but of course people will start noticing that tendency and sending that **** into section 112), and he knows how to find the open man.

so let's see how he does. he definitely has some skills but i have a feeling he's just catching people off guard at the moment.

******* bullshit!!!

Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Russell Westbrook, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Steve Nash and Marc Gasol are the seven reserves for the Western Conference All-Star team.

Dirk made it? Seriosuly!?!?!?

Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Roy Hibbert, Paul Pierce, Deron Williams, Luol Deng and Andre Iguodala are the seven Eastern Conference All-Star reserves.

Also, Josh Smith > Deng, I think they just put Deng in there because the Bulls are doing so well.

Agreed, I would put Monroe there but they probably put him there since the Pacers are actually winning and since Granger is stinking it up, they picked him. I like Dwill but he shouldn't be there either this season but I guess there really isn't any other guard you can replace him with, if he were in the West maybe Monta.

i'm good with the Deron selection. nearly 21/9 a night and he does know how to lead a team. but yeah, not a lot of competition...i really thought John Wall would blossom into an All Star this year but i guess i know ****

oh yeah, and any one of Josh Smith, Amare Stoudemire or Greg Monroe for East F over Luol Deng:

he may surprise all of us but i could easily see him being a 10-11ppg/5-7apg guy long term which isn't bad at all imo

talk of d howard on knicks is marsupialed, he's a rich man's chandler. carmelo will undoubtedly ruin whatever progress the team and lin make. lin as a p'n'r pg with amare and chandler to cleanup/putbacks would be fun to watch.
