man, the Eastern Conference has to be the worst conference that's perpetually in the playoffs in all of sport history. it seems that they have been in the playoffs for my entire adult life and done absolutely nothing in any of them, at least not that i can remember. and i'm really trying here.

this year is particularly weak - they've always rolled over in the first or second round but they have decided to speed things up and start rolling over in the week before the playoffs start.

FTFY - helps explain what enables ATL to make the playoffs.

Eh, a good shooter who can help spread the floor for 15-20 minutes a night. Classic awesome Buford move. Just like when they picked up Captain Jack off of the scrap heap last season.

I was watching this game. At one point they did an in-game interview with Anderson Varejao. They asked him to try his hand at play-by-play in Portuguese with that particular play. It was something like "blah blah blah....E LOS BIRDMAN!" It was pretty awesome.

NY v BOS is a toss

IND will sweep ATL

CHI over BKN

I went with Brooklyn over Chicago mainly because Chicago plays with more intensity than any other team during the regular season, but this levels out in the playoffs when both teams are actually playing for something. But wouldn't be really surprised if Chicago won this.

Went with Grizz in 6 because I felt that the Clips would win if it goes to 7. But yeah, this one's a toss up.

I honestly don't think Boston has any shot. Not having Rondo is really going to hurt in the playoffs. Only way Boston takes a few games is if the NY has some really bad shooting nights.

And Indy can very likely sweep ATL, I'd agree with that.

So am I crazy to think the Lakers might have a chance to knock off the Spurs?

Mike D'Antoni Excited To Finally Have Chance To Coach Lakers

SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF • Sports • NBA Basketball • ISSUE 49•16 • Apr 17, 2013

LOS ANGELES—Heading into the final game of the NBA’s regular season, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters Wednesday that he is thrilled to finally have the opportunity to actually coach the Los Angeles Lakers. “We have the right personnel in place now to allow me to install my system of offense, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the roster at the moment,” said D’Antoni, adding that he’s been waiting a long time to be in charge of the Lakers basketball team and couldn’t be more excited to finally get started. “I know it’s late in the season, but I’m just happy that I can do what I was actually brought here to do.” Reached for comment, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak revealed that D’Antoni will have approximately nine months before the team reevaluates his position as head coach.

i'm with you bubba. i think either way it's going to be a pretty "ugly" series, unless you like half-court offense and really tough defense. but the lakers over the last week seem like they've rounded into about where they should have been at the all-star break. howard totally beasted on defense last night. stripped harden twice on drives to the bucket in big plays. gasol had his second triple-double. blake was hitting the open j. could happen.

^^

Funny thing about that is that he probably doesn't feel too much different than that. He truly believes in his system and probably feels that Kobe is irrelevant to the team, what matter more is a good PG and a stretch 4, everyone else feeds off that.

gotta say that i was a d'antoni fan going into this season, but not so much any more. he showed no flexibility as far as adapting to the talent he had. his rotations have been puzzling (at best). and the way he ran his vets into the ground was unforgivable. sure kobe never wanted to come out, but who's the coach? sometimes you have to stand up. Most frustrating is that now that kobe's down, he's stretching the rotation to 8 and 9 players.
