I don't wear sweats out in public unless they've got "juicy" stamped on the back. Even then it has to be hot pink.

Oh hell no I mean just never do that.
Why would you wear sweatpants just because you're in college? People dress like stupid ***** in college. Especially my college. U of I -- engineering utopia, fashion black hole. Thank goodness for superfly Korean kids.

Sweatpants look bad. Really, I promise they do. If you just wear ******* jeans your friends will like you better, girls will pretend you exist, and waitstaff won't treat you like a Faulknerian idiot man-child. And, if it's really a thing with you, you can find jeans that "make your ass look good".

If you aren't going to a K-Mart, suffering from cholera, or drinking PBR out of a Yahtzee dice cup, you shouldn't be wearing sweatpants.

You're probably forgetting that many runway designers have made some fantastic non-sloppy non-cheap 'sweat' pants, that are essentially beltless shrink waisted thick cotton pants that are comfortable and easy to wear whilst still looking good.

Also the drop crotch variety of pants are considered sweat pants, even the ones that willy once wore with SF approval. I believe chronoaug wears drop crotch sweats, I know many sufu'ers do, as well as the higher end sweat pants as mentioned above.

Dressing for the occasion doesn't mean you have to look like a slob, it simply means in this case that you'd rather not wear clothes that aren't suited to the campus, because they might be: too formal, too special/high-end in your wardrobe. Think about the way girls dress, most don't dress in their formal or 'best' outfits for school yet they still wear outfits that look good and as mentioned, are practical.

Oh and something I've always thought is interesting, is how you can look better on the weekends, simply by wearing casual inoffensive stuff during the week and bringing out your nicer clothes when going out. Just by not wearing your best clothes everyday, you give more meaning to them when you finally wear them, your friends take note and pay more attention to them then they normally do, and most importantly, you wear them out less and don't have to wash them as often.

Pulling off sweatpants in public carries with it the prerequisite of stubble, among other things. Better to look like a slob than the clean cut wasp-y guy whom mistakenly left home wearing his PJs.

Most girls at my school dress fuckin' awful when they go to class and mediocre when they go out. Girls in Toronto/Montreal dress up all the time and generally good then, and then great (at least the fashiony ones I go out with) when they go out. It bothers me so much when I see a hot girl wearing sweatpants. It's like, damn you could look so much better girl, just throw on some jeans and you're good to go. My usual outfit is jeans, sneakers, and a vneck lmao I'm pretty sure I'm not dressing formal/my best 90% of the time. The trend this year for girls at my school is "socks that stick out of boots/shoes" do you really think that it's okay to do that, because it's PRACTICAL?

They can look good if they're the right sweatpants with the right outfit and the right "vibe". It definitely is much more difficult to pull off and look good but there isn't a "jeans always look better 100% every time" kinda thing. Maybe if you just swap sweatpants for jeans in a regular look but not true in all situations. I've seen them work and i've had situations where my own outfit or outfit idea would be enhanced by the right sweats in the right material/color/fit/drape.

Not sure why people like to be so vehemently opposed to things based on either archaic rules or the fact that unstylish people wear a similar item in a completely different way without any thought into it whatsoever. I see all kinds of awful outfits with dark jeans or with boat shoes or with chucks, etc... but that doesn't mean that a stylish person can't make those items work. If you are not stylish, creative, adventurous or don't have the rest of the wardrobe or desire to make certain items or looks work then that's your call. Let the other guys figure out how to make stuff look good so in a year or two you can follow them

ergo, if you look good, you'll still look good in sweats. if you're ugly than you need clothes to hide that fact.

Maybe through your eyes, through my eyes, chicks wearing sweats is always a notch or two down from what they usually are. Way to turn your nice legs into lumps of cheap gray mottled fabric. It just puts out such a ****** vibe.

ps I'm also going to guess that was trying to say I'm unattractive? Project your own vulnerabilities on someone with lower self-esteem please, not everyone who cares about how they're dressed is insecure.

As opposed as I have been in the past about sweatpants outside the home or gym context, I've come around to them the more I've seen materials, cuts, and details change as you get in to the mid tier to high end designer iterations. The RRL sweats Farinelli's was selling last year, and this season's KZO and W+H variations are what starting opening me up to the thought of spending more than 2 digits for sweats as conflicting of an idea as that is to me. Like chrono mentions I think it is about the styling and "vibe" their worn with. Pair some modern slimmer fit sweats and style it up with shirts in cool textures, fabrics, drape, etc. then I start coming around to the idea.

I think the issue is how they have come to be known all this time and the type of sweats with super oversized legs that make it hard to come around to them being paired well with anything other than gym and house chores. Those feelings are reinforced when I'm out and about in public and I see girls wearing them no matter how sexy the are b/c they are wearing those garrish ones with P.I.N.K. and other nonesense scribbled on their ass and they are pairing them up with matching t-shirts and those disastrous UGG boots. Or on the other hand when a dude is walking around in them with some ******* chunky ass running Reebok pump shoe and raggedy t-shirt with their Ed Hardy hat turned backwards. That's just sloppy and a ******* fail every time in my book and that definitely is **** you should just wear around the house. I mean I've seen that worn in Church a few weeks ago. Atrocious.

Nice. These stores have been selling these type of sweatpants for at least 20 years. It amazes me that people continue to buy them. They apparently must be top sellers year after year. If I am going to be a walking advertisement, I want residuals dammit! Edit: Just noticed they are women's "perfect butt" sweatpants. But no doubt they have a men's equivalent.
