Is there a pair of boots anyone could recommend for both walking around a city and wearing in the countryside? I'm talking touristy walks in the city and light hiking in the country - puddles, mainly, mud, etc. What do you think of Edward Green Galway model? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure I've never seen the word "countryside" so much as in the few months I've been posting here.

I'm a bit of a country boot fan. I have the EG Galway and other boots including Tricker's Grasmere, AS Culford and have owned the C&J Coniston. I'd recommend C&J Snowdon! I think the Galway is a great town boot, but too fine a thing to be exposed to puddles and mud. The Grasmere is too big and clunky a last for town. The Culford is ok, but not a patch on C&J. It doesn't have a storm welt, so could not take the wet (mine developed water marks). Good for town though. The Coniston is nice, but it's on a dainite sole unit. No bellows tongue. The Snowdon is the best option - veldtshoen, robust, nice last, good heel unit.

It's not bad. There's not a lot in between - most lasts are pretty big. This sits sort of in the middle. I love to see Grenson Albert in a boot design - the 64 last would look great.

copied that. i'm not a dainite man, but what's wrong with the coniston. it's much more pleasing for the eyes.

Nice classic 'town' boot. It would be lovely in oxblood. It's a far better boot than the Culford, but I prefer the eyelets on the Culford - adds to that sturdy, no-nonsense practical look.

I think Ron Rider's Wingtip Boot would be perfect for country and city.
