RLPL, I presume? I really like, but would prefer a below-knee overcoat length with that look, as it's quite top-heavy at the moment. Shirt is a great choice with all the other colours/touches already there.

As far as the second one goes, I rather like the overcoat -- but the tie makes the whole outfit look too matchy. And I absolutely love the fact that he's wearing it with a pair of monks.

The monochromatic subtlety of the grey is, to my eye, much nicer than the olive peacocking of the second.

I think it is because nearly every detail in the second is designed to draw attention. Even the pant legs draw attention as they seem so narrow.
