You mean when Bud followed Larry around? There's nothing illegal about that, and even if there was, Bud was the one doing it, not Gekko.

Didn't the Lotus/IBM case of the 80s set the standard that an insider is some one with inside knowledge . You don't need to be an employee to be an insider.

As far as sequels go, the generally are shite, but this has potential... looking forward to it.

I'll be taking bets on whether we see Gekko in suspenders or not. PM for current odds.

From the movie stills I have seen it doesn't look like GG is gonna be dressed well. That DB vest is about the best looking thing I've seen yet.

I think this sequal is gonna fail.

Wasn't that in the mid-90s though? That would have been almost 10 years after the events of the movie. Securities laws change all the time, it may have been legal in the 80s but not in the 90s with IBM/Lotus... Even if it were illegal at that time, a 20 year sentence for that seems rather harsh, especially considering the sentences Boesky and Milken got.

What the hell is Shia wearing on his feet, they look like fugazy ferragamo/gucci horse bit loafers

Douglas looked good in Wall Street, but I much preferred his wardrobe in The Game.

Some of the new Gucci offerings look like rebadged Aldo shoes.

Just saw Wall Street for the first time last week. I found all the kitchen gadgets humorous but outside of that it was not particularly interesting. I may see the sequel though...

If Oliver Stone is reading:

Bring back Charlie Sheen on parole, have him beat up a girlfriend or two, a few kids, then put a knife to a new wife's neck on xmas eve...

but maybe nobody will believe it...

The info regarding bluestar that Fox provided was inside information, from his father. As there is a connection from the father to budd to gekko, that inside information can't be traded on. If it was accidental dissemination with no connection the rules are different, but in the case of the movie there is a connection and it is intentional = illegal.
