I have 'Freedom' in Sumerian Cuneiform tattooed on my right forearm because I'm a crazy anti-government nutjob. It looks like crap because it was all done with a single needle so it scarred up something awful.

Good thing, too, because they'll be there forever.

I doubt I'd get along with the OP, but I do fully understand and recognize that many people either don't understand why anyone would want to get a tattoo, or don't agree with the reasons given. That's fine - I figure if someone thinks less of me because of some idea they have of who someone (especially a woman) is because they have tattoos, then obviously they aren't someone I want to know.

Wait. I don't understand. You say that your tattoos are a way to externalize very deep internal principles by which you live that are deeply a part of you, yet you say that if people were to base their judgment on your person based on your tatoos, then you don't want to know them. This makes no sense. I thought the whole point of your tattoos was to let people know what you're all about, in a way, inviting people to get a glimpse of your inner self through external markings. Why would you be so dismissive of people who are simply giving attention and thought to your tattoos in exactly the same way that you supposedly want them to?

Old school but you never needed to know let alone ask why someone was inked.

Some pay for a piece of art to hang in their living room. I pay to have it on my body.

I have multiple tattoos and I love them all.

It's not on your body, so what the hell does it matter to you?

Maybe for your own benefit you might want to know them. Having a tattoo as a 'symbol' or some other such nonsense is more a symbol of mawkishness than much else.

Sirs,

The sheep analogy springs to mind when I see such common 'self-expression' everywhere.

How original it must be to have some foreign or ancient script on your back or some ugly dark blue foliage making its way up ones arm.

Yours,

Smith.

I consider it an artform, with flesh being the canvas.

I have a question, rhetorical in nature: why do individuals decorate their bodies with absurd, ugly tattoos?
The answer, of course, is obvious: they are deluded into thinking they have something 'cool' about them.
This delusion is your own opinion and doesn't really apply to anybody who actually has tats. Why do you ask? Are you trying to find a reason to get one for yourself? You should get one, it would be "sweet", *cough* sir.

Lol, exactly. The majority of people that are sitting here making opinionated remarks obviously have issues with their own body.

I've come to see that the people who make no remarks about other people are actually the guys that are the most respectable and have the most going for them. They KNOW that they're the best, they have no need to exploit it. Some of you guys are desperately seeking acceptance from your peers and it's quite sad.

That's a ridiculous generalization.

and again, your 'class' is opinion.
