THose aren't too bad. I had some Fratelli shoes that I bought before I knew any better that looked likle these but they were seriously clunky. Wore them maybe three times.. sold them off on eBay recently.

Allen Edmond used to make the Broadstreet in brown /white. There is a pair of dark brown and linen? by Romano Martegani I'm seriously looking at having made.

Those specs are ones that I had made by Ron Rider two summers ago. I highly recommend them. They still look good, and I've gotten lots of compliments. They are basically the Malvern III design from EG made by a much lower-cost maker. And if you can get to Richmond, Ron does a fantastic job of fitting you!

Duveen, I Hope you don't mind another pair of these walking around.
I contacted Ron on the good advice from members of this forum concerning a different style. He was great to work with and my order was easy.
On the question of maintenance, what are you using to care for your specs regarding polish and care for the fabric which I assume is linen?

Hi Designprofessor,

No worries - I am not in Oklahoma City much, so it is not too likely that we'll run into each other. If I do go there on business, I'll give you a holler and we can be twins.... (kidding about the twins part, but I will drop a line).

I have a light tan polish and use leather conditioner pretty regularly. Just be careful when polishing and you'll be fine.

The linen has yet to get soiled. I've worn the shoes all of eleven times since their purchase. They are great, but are too distinctive to be a staple. When/if the linen does get dirty I plan to clean it using a mixture of water and diluted detergent. Not sure if that is the recommended solution (and it hasn't come up yet), but that's my current thinking.

Any other suggestions?

I think someone mentioned masking tape across the paler portions to keep polish from getting on them. Frankly I would love to have a pair like that so I am also curious.

I own a pair of AE's with an almost sage color linen and I have also been careful with the polish. I have not had trouble with the linen either. I'll snoop around at Allen Edmonds and if I come across anything concerning the fabric, I'll let you know.
I'll probably order my specs this summer. Wish I had them now, but hey..

What model are the AE's with sage linen? I saw, and loved, a vintage pair like that on Ebay (I think that they were EGs, and I believe that one of our Forumites had gotten them for a song). Are these current-product AEs? If so, what model are they?

BTW, for those who want spectators with something other than white and in a wingtip, Hilary from EG was telling us that their MTO program can do any of their shoes with different leathers on different sections where applicable. For example, you could have a Dover with a different leather on top than on the sides.

Absolutely correct Andre. Someone I was chatting with recently was comtemplating a Buckingham loafer in edwardian with a white suede buck lake. Sounds awesome!

I have forgotten. I bought these shoes aound 1995 or earlier. They have the same brogue pattern as the Broadstreet. The leather color is "oak" in their terminology.
The linen is actually a natural khaki shade with a slight hint of sage green. They do not have the style name printed on the inside sole. Inside right it has (8643 Comb.) AE actually sent me a wrong pair, but when I pulled them from the box, I liked them.
I believe its a discontinued shoe, at least from browsing their current catalogs. i can send a pic if needed.
