Hi,

I was recently shopping for a leather jacket, but as it turns out, I'm a difficult fit. Basicly im a size medium everywhere but the sleeves, which need to be extra long. I wear a 35" sleeve in a dress shirt. The large jackets are all much too big everywhere else and cannot even be considered. I have tried all the department stores, outlet centers, wilsons leather, etc etc. Nothing fits (sleeves way too short).

I read that real motorcycle jackets are cut a little longer in the sleeves, which is needed when stretching for the handle bars. Im guessing the "motorcycle jackets" i've seen in stores are regular consumer versions which may not share this trait. I hope I am right on this, can anyone comment?

So I was thinking, maybe I should get a genuine motorcyle jacket (assuming it has longer sleeves), that looks more like a subtle street jacket, and not like many of the more radical designed versions. Maybe some thing like this ... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...er-Jacket.aspx

So what do you think, is this a good plan? Or is there another route I should go down? Honestly at this point, I'll settle for anything that fits!

Welcome to this forum, Stringer

I've got two leather jackets, a bomber and a motorcycle jacket (Belstaff Panther).
The latter indeed has longer arms. Although Belstaff has turned into a fashion company, the jackets still got this characteristic and the fit is quite tight too.

People have been telling you what to do. Belstaff, custom, ask, for example, Aero, to customize the jacket with long sleeves (they'll do it - it is custom), or check with a tailor to see if there is extra leather in a sleeve to be let out and extended on a certain jacket.

Here's what you do:

Buy a jacket in any style you like.

Put it on. Zip front

Tie the sleeves together in the front and keep arms inside jacket, not sleeves

Walk to the nearest bridge over a river.

Jump in.

You're jacket will fit perfect.

PS - let us know how it turns out, pics would be a plus

I think I'll go ahead an order the jacket I linked to. When it arrives, I will report back with my findings. Because unlike many of you, I'll use this forum to pass along useful information.

No, seriously. The bridge idea is the right way to go. Really high ones tend to work best... Oh, and the "over a river" part is optional.
