Why would anyone wear pleated shorts?

if you're a pear shaped person, or pot belly, pleats serve as camouflage, if your skinny/thin then pleats add fullness to your legs and mid-section, if your tall (6 ft>) and thin, it may look decent, if your on the shorter side <5'9... the last thing you want is to shorten your appearance/look.
Now, there's different styles/types of pleats, all i could say is when you try pleated pants on, checkout your appearance, wearing high waisted pants shortens your torso, flat front pants worn at the belly button will lengthen your torso, depending on your body shape, dress to your advantage. good luck
