Can I darken my faded jeans?

I have a pair of jeans that I really like that were originally a dark blue. Through many washings, they are now faded and appear to be light blue. I would still like to wear these jeans, but it would be great if I could darken them a bit.

Is there a product or process that I can use to darken my jeans?

You could dye them. You can buy navy Rit dye in the grocery and craft stores. OR! Buy new jeans. I know I'm desperately trying to wear out my current jeans so I can cop a new pair.

BTW, do not use 'navy blue' RIT dye. If you're going for a darker indigo denim color, you'll be disappointed.

Last week, I dyed a denim jacket using half a pack of navy and a full pack of black, and it still came out a bit too bright of a blue.

Any idea if the color of the 1980 KMW hand-dye can be replicated by amateurs?
I know what's hank-dyeing but what exactly is hand hank-dyeing?

nothings impossible but its highly unlikely. you wouldnt be able to do it unless you literally made your jeans from scratch

The yarn is dyed before the denim is woven so no. Even if you had the indigo to dye with you wouldn't end up with the inconsistencies

When you are ready to wash a pair of raw jeans for the first time, just drop the older pair in to soak with the bled indigo. No need to buy any dyes.

Doesn't quite work that way. While it looks like a first-wash pair of raw jeans are losing a lot of dye, there's not enough to really dye anything.

At least, from what I've seen from the three pair of raw jeans I've washed so far. Every time, I've tossed a white cotton bandana in the wash just to test. No dice so far.
