I agree that the shirts aren't worth it at retail, particularly their cottin poplin shirts, but not that they run large. They run true to size in my experiences for a conservative fit (i.e. I'm a small and can wear a small in both their reverse seamed shirts and button down shirts). I can actually size down for a more fitted look only in the button downs as they fit a bit more roomy.
I did manage to get two blue OCBD's from the most recent Gilt sale both in small and XS and they both fit better than most OTR shirts or mall brands say and the oxford material at least I thought was nice.

Steven Alan is more expensive since its made in the USA (Shirts). But you're right, I don't pay retail for SA. I either wait for their sample sale or buy J.Crew (love the new brand overhaul) or buy sale items at Groupe (Seize sur Vingt/Troglodyte Homunculus).
OFF TOPIC: No need to pay retail these days (in NYC anyway). Retailers are dying for business, power to the consumer! $80-$100 is reasonable for a shirt, not $150-$250.

While some of the shirts are nice, I also agree that it is not worth the price they are asking for. Last season they came out with some really nice snap-button shirts in flannel, chambray, etc...but iirc they were $215. In their defense, those ones were made in the States, but for that price I would rather go with, let's say, Flat Head for a snap-button/western shirt.

The snap flannels and the chambrays were nice, agreed, and I noticed that they were all still readily available come sales times given their mark up for what you get so at the sales prices I saw them at, I thought they were reasonable. I asked them recently if they offered any oxford button downs in their current online selection and they didn't with the exception of one tab collar.
I do, however, like a lot of their plaid offerings, and their camp shirts they have online right now are very attractive to me anyway as well as their knits, but I don't know how their knits are so I wouldn't chance it at retail personally.
