No, not really. If you're really interested, we can get in touch once I'm back in town in December and I can proxy for you. Also, we can grab a bite with him when you're down in April.

This is the shirt I picked up: http://fourhorsemen.ca/shop/black-co...vy-shop-shirt/

No offense, but it seems a bit boring for my tastes, like YMC if it was better made and less edgy.

I actually don't think there are many people here who do talk about Cabourn. Or, if you are referring to the explosion of shops in NA who are carrying him this year, then I guess I understand. I'm a bit blown away by how many shops are carrying the $2300 Everest parka. That said, some of the stuff like the shirting is super boring. But, I think the knitwear and outerwear is where it's at. Amazing materials and construction. And, yes, rather expensive, but I just wait for sales to pick up something here and there.

Woah, woah... Have you seen it in person? Being in/near LA, I'm guessing you have, so I'm not sure why you'd think this.

Agreed. There aren't many brands out there that I've seen that put that much attention into selecting just the right material and where each item should be produced. Then again, I live in the middle of ******* nowhere, so what do I know?

And, WTF, Crate? They don't update their blog, no webshop, they advertise on other blogs stating "No link, no webshop, just an ad", and one can't even get ahold of Chad? I'm surprised they stay in business.

I don't get it either. I suspect, though I can't confirm, dude is a trust fund kid who does it for fun and not money. Otherwise, yeah, it boggles the mind.

Well, they are also the Deus bike distributor for NA, so that could be keeping him afloat.

People here haven't talked about him since this year, online and in b&m it seems to be about the same. Given the retail climate, it doesn't make sense to me. I think it was two or three years ago that boutiques started selling Moncler; especially in LA, that **** didn't move an inch. Obviously, you're not the Cabourn's main consumer and as such I can't imagine too many people informed in fashion enough to pay for it at retail. I haven't seen it in person (pretty sure it's only carried at one store in LA, and it's the store I rarely go to) but is something like this shirt really something I need to see in person to be less bored by it?

Crate isn't exactly a business model you can compare to others to understand. It's also hard to explain the distaste of putting up with a webstore but take a look at my new SS t-shirt:

It refers to a website that isn't updated, but what's really hilarious/fitting is the slogan. That's Chad. And while a few stores still stock Crate (both domestically and abroad), there are other ways to stay in business in private label.

Unfortunately, that hurt Mauro FAR more than it touched Chad. Really horrible situation.

lulz. You got any other predictions, Nostradamus? There are a couple of labels where that definitely might be the case, typically younger labels, but there are those that have investors or made money in one label/field and carried it over. There's one label that's been around for a few years that was actually started based on the money the owner made from winning "Fear Factor." So it may be easy to call all these mystery labels "trust fund projects" but... it ain't the case. Actually, one label that I knew had a HUGE self-backing also shuttered recently. Money is money, whether it's coming from your bank or from others.

ugh, that makes me dislike him more. I hated posthardcore because i grew up in NJ and every kid with a guitar thought he could be senses fail and now he's the ultimate in bro-step. Not to be like OMG my music e-dick is bigger or anything, just preference.

check out salacioussound for a similar (but kinda better) take on the electro scene. It smells a little bit less like axe body spray and four loko

Just idle speculation considering how bizarre it seems Crate's business model is. I don't really care either way though, never bought any Crate products and I don't foresee it happening in the future either.

I was really looking forward to FW10 as well. Dudes didn't even email me back re. the sample liquidation. Meh... Is he doing okay? Tell him to get in touch with me if he is hanging around. I see his updates om Facebook occasionally, and it's like the brand never happened. Sorta wierd.

Well, like I said, the shirts can be pretty boring. Even just last FW, it was really hard to find Cabourn anywhere, even online. There was OC and a small handful of UK and JP sites, and that was it. It seems like the stocklists have exploded this year, which is probably why more people are talking about it. Maybe people are buying it given the retail climate because it's great stuff? That said, I'm sure a LOT of it will be heavily discounted come late Nov.

Universal Works? 8:15 (August 15?) Interestingly, I've seen a lot of those brands turn up in boutiques in the last couple of seasons.

I think a lot of people here know about clothes but very few actually know what goes on outside of a store. Most people, like you, would come up with scenarios to fill in the blanks without looking at the some of the more obvious options to others familiar with the industry, ie, private label, having other stores, international distrubtion, etc. When you see the bigger picture, it really isn't that "bizarre." Just think of how many tiny Japanese boutique labels don't sell online, only have one store that is impossible to find and closed on weird days, etc. It's nothing personal against you, especially since Crate isn't a label you admittedly follow, nor do I claim to Russel Crowe working for Big Tabacco. I can only comment from knowing these people and the stories that are relayed to me. But your suspicion is speaks of the greater disconnect of information here between the brand and consumer even though most on this forum would consider themselves "informed" buyers.
