In a really conservative office? I am not a part of corporate America or anything so I'll have to defer to those with experience here but what kind of office would get upset about a modern fashion suit? Most people can't even tell/wouldn't even notice. Unless you're talking about something with a crazy print or pattern. But beyond that I can't imagine anyone batting an eye.
If you work in finance you will never get away with fashion-forward ****. They get all sorts of angry if you try to get fancy without being the boss. Law probably is a bit difficult too. I'd imagine most other places no one will even notice though, or just comment on how you're wearing a little boys suit.
Also it's pretty fun to wear suits for the **** of it just not in summer.
I'd have to agree with ARW. I can't speak to finance, but almost no one in law is going to care. Outside of SF no one is going to get upset over a fashion suit, or skinny lapels. Unless there's something really extreme about it most people aren't going to give a **** (or even notice) and are just going to care that you're wearing a suit. The only time in law I can possibly think of is maybe in rare situations at Big-Law firms, as some of those partners do get really into high-end suits and might know their **** to some degree. Makes me think of this partner from some big firm that taught an arbitration class at my school last fall; showed up the first day wearing a f-ing amazing DB suit.
I had actually just been thinking of this stuff last night. People on here always comment about some pants/suit/etc being too "fashion forward" or too slim for work... but no one outside of here is going to care unless you're trousers are so slim they're painted on.
