contact cement is cheap as **** tho. just bought some. YOU BETTER BE RIGHT ZISSOU!!!! :puzzled:

If you go to a hardware store (like a real one, not a home depot), they;ll probably have shoe-grade contact cement, too. Or a cobbler.

Yes, the heavier duty contact cement will specifically say that it's good for rubber, leather, wood, etc. Make sure you clean all surfaces, then apply it to both surfaces and let it fully dry before pressing them together (probably best to do this while wearing them and putting your weight on it).

i don't know why people argue with bb1. his arguments are always completely unsupported because the "evidence" he uses is always irrelevant. it's always some "i see a lot of people buy THIS because of COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED REASON HERE BUT THIS REASON IS RIGHT BECAUSE IT IS IN LINE WITH MY INITIAL PREMISE WHICH MUST ALWAYS BE TRUE BECAUSE I SAY IT IS". I forgot the technical term for it, but there is always a logical fallacy somewhere in his arguments.
ignore him, let him fanboy about his jun hashimoto, wjk, and other *********** own little personal circlejerk.

You are describing the process of deductive reasoning. While deductive reasoning alone cannot totally prove anything, it is the natural starting point for me when developing arguments around a premise that came from my intuition. By stating these sometimes incomplete thoughts out loud I'm hoping others will start an interesting discussion that I can use to refine my ideas further. Judging from all the recent reposes I spurred this has been moderately successful.

However, I am still dismayed by how openly hostile some are to this process in an on-line environment as compared to interacting with others in real life. Why the personal insults and character assassinations? I honestly do not enjoy attempting to tear other people apart in this manner, but objects and ideas are always free game.

Oh, and the idea that every discussed idea has to be proven and 100% lacking in logical fallacies is an absurd notion. If we were to accept this point of view then we wouldn't readily be able to discuss anything. But I would guess you only apply this rigorous criteria to arguments that don't resonate with you personally.

I forgot what the premise of the discussion was, let alone your point of view, so I can't really comment. but thanks for the info earlier. also, was that a tu quoque up there ??

wow, a community for discussing fashion can sometimes encourage us to try things we would not have otherwise considered?
clearly, this should not be happening

I share your sentiment. However when a mass of people all move towards the same thing in unison, it often becomes a process of gaining comfort in sameness (or the familiar) as opposed to the process of discovery that I assume you're alluding too.

BB1- my recommendation is that you actually complete those thoughts before trying to spark an argument ('discussion') on here. Your thoughts do often seem incomplete despite your comments being so long-winded. Additionally, they're often laced with hypocrisy. For instance, the other day, you said:
I believe most ToJ customers had never dreamed of buying a leather jacket until they immersed themselves into the culture of this forum. Reading through the ToJ message thread there is a sense of comradery amongst fellow owners, with everyone congratulating each other on their purchases and drew residing over the whole affair as if a he was a near deity.

Here, you criticize the ToJ fans for treating Drew like a 'near deity' just after you claim omniscience regarding their intentions. Maybe if they buy 14 ToJs, you'll know they really meant to buy that first one.

Most males who are interested in clothing probably do not fit in with their peer group with respect to that issue. That includes you too amirite?

Yes, that includes me and likely the majority of posters on this forum. But I would contend that when you dress differently than everyone else, it becomes even more important that your outfit be coherent and match your personal style.

If you dress in the same style as your peers, you will granted a lot of forgiveness for slightly ill fitting clothing and a few mismatched items. Consider how the poorly dressed person wearing a conforming style is largely ignored. But when you dress differently, you draw attention to yourself and thus your outfits are open to additional scrutiny. We like to label the poorly dressed person wearing non-conforming clothing as a "fashion victim" and view them with disdain.

But when the popular messages on the forum are that TOJ leathers are a fashion staple suitable for everyone, or that we should not miss out on the 80% off sale at the awesome Mr. Porter, then many are driven towards making purchases may not work well for them. It's as if the wisdom of this forum has replaced the wisdom of their peers. While the forum is useful for giving us ideas and feedback, I think many would be well served to rely more on their own instincts.

the issue at hand is that your reasons are always subjective (read: too heavily opinionated to be taken seriously) and not realistic. your observations are so incredibly opinionated that you cannot view anything objectively. it's fine to be dismissive of things and trends; everyone is entitled to their own opinion. it's the fact that you try to back up all your statements with the most asinine train of thought/reasoning ever. however, you are so strongly opinionated about certain trends in fashion and your need to be different and distinguished from everyone else causes you to vilify everything that is becoming even remotely popular and mainstream within the circles you frequent. while i do agree that toj fanboyism is a bit excessive (and i bet most of it is tongue-in-cheek humor; it's called the ******* temple of jawnz. chillax, bro), so is your fanboyism of wjk, jun hashimoto, etc. etc. whatever it is you jerk off to these days. i bet if a shitload of the forumers started to buy jun hashimoto and wjk, you'd jump boat, too. because that's your modus operandi. just reading your posts, it gives me the feeling that it's not so much an issue of quality, but this incessant desire to be different, and somehow better and more informed than the masses. congratulations, you are the 1%. good for you. you do your own thing, and let them do theirs. if they deify drew, so be it. if you actually have some poignant insight that you think needs to be said, well, at least make a good case for yourself without resorting to fallacious logic (ie. your understanding of what compels people to buy suvs and pretty much like 95% of the reasons you lay to support your hypotheses, theories, etc.)

Shahs of Sunset

shahs-of-sunset-cast-600-500-01-17-12.jpg

As anticipation mounts for the premiere of Bravo’s new reality show “Shahs of Sunset“,
curious fans of the network — which serves as home to the “Real Housewives” franchise —
are getting their first look at the cast in a newly-released photo.
The show follows a group of young Persian-American friends who sport chromed-out cars,
logo-ridden purses and designer outfits, juggling living and working in Los Angeles while
balancing the demands of their families and traditions.
