In high school (back in the mid 90's) we still had typing class. One formal class and you'll be able to touch type with the best of them (at least 40words per min).

I don't get how they don't offer things like typing class, speed reading classes, and note taking classes in middle school/high school anymore.

for about 3 years this is the keyboard I used: Das Ultimate Keyboard

it really separates those who know how to touch-type from the "hunt and peckers". I gave it away to a friend and wish I never did...the newer models aren't really the same.

Dvorak is a ***** to learn and readjust to. I prefer QWERTY, and I use a beautiful split qwerty keyboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109143 -- this ****'s my baby

 definitely.

reminds me. when someone starts singing, and they sound like a dying marsupialed cat, and then they say "oh, i love singing! all my friends tell me i a have a great singing voice." so whats the deal with that?

1. are they that oblivious to reality?

2. what about these so called friends? are they trying to be nice at the expense of humanity? are they also deaf and/or oblivious?

lol i walked by the ugg store in nyc today and saw a line of people waiting to get in.
i said very loudly and disapprovingly, 'what the ****, for UGGS?!' and passed judgment as i walked by.
hahahaha
Sorry to digress, but I am howling w/laughter at this stream- I threw my wife's UGGS out. She thinks her Aunt stole them. It's a win/win!

I was walking in soho one day and this couple stopped me and asked me where the Ugg store was. All I could think of saying was, "really? Out of all of these people, you think I would know where the Ugg store is?"
LOL, Sorry, this deserves re-posting

I think the Dvorak layout was supposed to reduce unnecessary finger movement by placing frequently used letters on the middle/home row, like the vowels, along with the most frequently used consonants.

Wasn't QWERTY originally designed to prevent early mechanical typewriters from jamming, by placing the frequently used letters away from each other? It's become the standard for well over a hundred years that everyone knows. There's always been alternative layouts and methods, but nothing has ever replaced the industry standard. One was called the Twiddler, a one handed device.
