Century 21 has a large number of Isaia ties for $63 (from $225). Also healthy amount of Holliday and Brown for $40, Bulgari for $70 and Battistoni at $40 (but they don't feel substantial). A Lanvin Couture suit upstairs for $2100 from $6450(!).

I bought a couple of the H&B ties for $40 last week and could easily have bought a dozen. I didn't see many Isaia for $63 that were worth the extra bucks over H&B or Battistoni for $38 (I disagree they don't feel substantial), which are the two best values there imo.

As for the rest, not that much to excited about. Limited selection of Brioni suits for $2K, Isaia for $1K, Zegna for $800, Canali (and for Lanvin) for $600 and a few interesting sportcoats by Corneliani, Zegna... for $400-$500. Shoe dept. is a waste of time. That's about it. Ties are the best deal in the house.

Certain of the H&B ties are printed on the 50oz silk, which is nice. Also should mention that there are Pantherella and V. Nagoni socks, as well. The Hickey Freeman suits appear to be from the lower Collection line . . .

Filene's Basement on the upper west side has a 1 button peak lapel Zegna made in italy mainline tuxedo with satin facings for $700-20%. Size is 42R.

I went to look for a cheap formal shirt in 16x35 and found none, unlike the last time I was at the Union Square FB.

I no longer go into that Filene's, as they never have anything worth a damn,

Also, they usually have cheap fused suits made from Zegna cloth in the store, passing them off as "Ermenegildo Zegna Suits". I once discussed this with the menswear manager who "used to be a buyer" and he tried to assure me that "these are indeed Zegna suits. Just look at the internal label"-- which looked nothing like the label on the three Zegna suits I own.

This is true but that it not the "Zegna" I was talking about. It's on the Mitchell's rack and definitely the mainline "Ermenegildo Zegna".

I can't believe I made it to a sale before you.

Hickey, not HF. You have to wade through some of the more nutty stuff, but there are nice things to be had. The cashmere sweaters are LP and cut well. I'm on my way out of town, but if you think you're going to go later in the week will you take a order? There were a couple of things that I expect will come down a lot further in price and should be there at the bitter end.
