Daily exfoliant?

My facial routine is simple:

Morning and evening: Baxter Daily Face Wash, Baxter Oil-Free Moisturizer

Occasionally I use the Men-U Ultra Concentrate face wash.

Before a shave, I use Kiehl's Facial Fuel to exfoliate. I shave with a badger brush, Anthony shave cream, and use Sharp's Kid Glove aftershave gel.

I get sporadic acne. The occasional zit that becomes a whitehead. I don't mind having an occasional pimple; I mind when it becomes an unsightly whitehead that looks like shit.

I'm wondering if the reason I'm getting such whiteheads is because I'm not exfoliating enough. There might be lots of dead skin hanging around these parts, clogging up pores, causing whiteheads.

The Kiehl's tube says to use this 2-3 times per week so it doesn't seem like a daily exfoliant.

Is there a benefit to exfoliating every day? What is a mild exfoliant that I should try that is available to purchase online?

Also it would be lovely if the product was available at menessentials: http://www.menessentials.com/oxid.ph...e3910.30428241 The two that I'm looking at are the MenScience: http://www.menessentials.com/oxid.ph...ne-Face-Scrub/ and the Sharps: http://www.menessentials.com/oxid.ph...Foaming-Scrub/

I posted a brief blurb about face scrubs on my blog a few days ago. Click the link in my signature and scroll down a bit.

Thanks, that is helpful. Given that I don't shave every day, I am looking for a more mild cleanser than the St. Ives. The menessentials reviews on the Sharps and MenScience seem to indicate that there are smaller beads in those products so I might lean toward them.

I really don't see the point in wasting money and resources every month on exfoliating scrubs when you can just use a scratchy exfoliating cloth in the shower instead - much cheaper and has been more effective for me, as well.

I have a very sensitive skin and normally, if I use exfoliants it will give me a break out. So other than using a cetaphil, I used a baby brush as my own exfoliant. I read it on acne.org and got curious of it. So far, it is doing good on my skin.

hey, dont mean to be rude but how old are you, as in, beyond anoying acne years or not?

i find that if i use an exfolient i get pimples because it really irritates my skin.

i only ues a mild peel (benzoyl peroxide %2.5) and a antibacterial face wash to remove the dead skin twice a day.

I also use more peeling agent after i shave and it stops ingrown hairs completely so i can shave closer.

good luck

I find that St. Ives' Apricot Scrub does wonders for keeping the skin in top shape, especially after a shave.

Read that skin care blog that someone posted on here, very top quality information.

St. Ives is very harsh for your face.. yes it feels good, and your skin looks nice and "buffed out" after using it, but it actually causes damage. Find an exfoiliant you like with synthetic beads instead of ground up nut shells or whatever it is in that St Ives stuff

I think that any exfoliant that is particularly harsh should be used more sparingly. The Baxter stuff has walnut shells in it as well and I did find it rather abrasive so I'll keep it at once or twice a week http://www.baxterofcalifornia.com/st...ct_detail&p=22 But if the particules are softer and disintegrate more easily, it's safe(r) to use more often.

I grabbed the Sharps. Reviews on menessentials said that it was gentle.

The gentlest exfoliant would be chemical - AHA (glycolic acid) or BHA (salicylic acid). Alpha Hydrox makes some great products in that line, as does Stridex (if you want drugstore stuff).

My routine:

Morning:

Wash "T-Zone" of face (forehead, nose) with Family Dollar brand Cetaphil cleanser. Shave with double edged razor and high grade shaving soap. Apply alcohol based aftershave splash.

That's it, and my skin has never looked better since I stopped buying 23000 useless skincare products.

I´ve been told to use Biotherm exfoliant once a week to prevent my daily irritated neck with grains due to shave.

Does it works?

Thanks

What is your exercise & diet like? Do you drink water? Exfoliating daily certainly helps, but diet & exercise can play some role as well. I notice my skin is always the clearest when I exercise 3-4 times a week(sweating is a must), and drink lots of water(80+ ounces a day).
