I don't and admit it often. I do what i can with cheap basics. However, i don't let my city's style dictate what i wear. I do have my slightly more hipstery frat outfit or two i like wearing. Get mad compliments from sorority girls on that vintage lacoste jacket (in gator blue no less). But all colleges pretty much have the same types of people/style and confidence really trumps clothing when it comes to looking/feeling awkward.

Wasn't there a thread about handling clothing related compliments too? Despite most people wanting to dress well here, most handle compliments from other people kinda awkwardly. Funny little conundrum

I don't like getting compliments from strangers in general. It's always awkward.

Dress for yourself.

Pride in appearance is not black and white - people have varying shades of grey.

Alot of guys I know don't wear fitted clothing because they think it makes them look too small. So they go gangsta upsize steez.

Do what you like. I can see Teger's arguement, but I don't do that. I wear what I like. Button downs most of the time, Selvedge, good outerwear, fitted plain T's, quality footwear, no sneaks/trainers.

One thing I do agree on is shoes - As I catch public transport and the weather can be crazy here in Queensland, all my work shoes are pretty solid and take beatings.

I don't believe people wear WAYWT steez all the time however, or actually wore it that day. It just looks too clean.

I think if you not living in them and you take the whole thing too seriously, then it starts to become what you are, not a part of who you are.

Depends on the situation.

At work, I just wear raw denim with usually an AA tee/polo shirt or a white-t and denim jacket. At work I just want to be comfortable so wearing something such as Chelseas of the like would be not so good. I also have flat feet! I mean why the hell do I care how great I look rearranging clothes?

However, I like to look good looking lounging with friends, going out, shopping, school, etc. So I save my nice **** for this.

I wear what I wear. Don't care if anyone notices or cares one way or the other. It's always nice to get compliments, but I wear things based on how I feel about the clothes and how the reflect my mood that day.

I guess technically I only wear my SF steez on the weekends. M-F I'm wearing workout gear because of my job. But, I've never thought twice about what I wear on the weekends. I guess its different since I'm not on a campus anymore.

I've recently noticed that when I play poker at the casino, the more distinctive I look the more that players will go out of their way to try and make plays against me. It doesn't take much to get some "who does this guy think he is, i'll show him" type reactions with that demographic, even without saying a word.
