Every shirt goes on sale ( staples too but a little harder to find). I've paid anywhere from $15-170 for a new gitman depending on how much I wanted a shirt and how much stock there was

Not all go on sale in all sizes though. And some may never make it to sales, I don't remember a lot of Hill Side collab shirts going on sale. But...there are often a lot of good deals on Gitmans late in the season if you're willing to risk them not having your size anymore. I buy about half of mine on sale and half at full price, just depends on the shirt and how bad and when I need it.

Most do go on sale, but you'll rarely find popular sizes like Medium on sale. Not uncommon for pieces to sell out full price too.

All mine are mediums, there are so many stocklists these days feel you are almost guaranteed to get it slightly discounted if you wait

that's the nice thing about gbv shirts, they are sold in fairly limited quantities that they hold their value pretty well.

I'm not sure I agree with that, I've seen almost all sizes reach sale prices; maybe not things like 40% off plus another 15%, but almost all of them reach initial sales. I do remember the seersucker ones at Unionmade made it to pretty steep discounts off of retail.

There's no way I'd ever buy any of their shirts at full retail.

i have a very hard time finding staple color/patterns in size small for less than 3 digits, like their solid ocbds and their more conservative patterns (eg. pencil stripe, graph check).  even used on ebay i never see them in size small for less than 100$.

when i do find them cheap, they are usually the very loud patterns, more unique colors, or a seasonal fabric like seersucker or linen.

i also wouldn't buy the shirts at full retail.  at needsupply you can use the sf code to get 10% off.  at context, you can get context money like 10$ off your next purchase.  if you happen to find the shirt you want on sale on top of this, then youre golden.

I wear Small also, and on sale or SF Classifieds I've gotten red, white, blue, green, but for just around $100, not below. I guess it's hit or miss.

yeah, hard to find that subset of GBV in size small for less than $100, even used.  that's why i thought they held their value pretty well.

I think it varries. Need Supply and Hickorees for example seem to sell out on good sizes and prints quick. Whereas other not as popular stockists usually have inventory deep into the season.

Ever since the Summer Chambray was released, I went back and forth on purchasing. Context had the small on sale so I took the dive. GLAD I DID! It's amazing!

LA folks - the Ron Herman store on Melrose started their 50% pre-sale today. Not much online but there's a fair amount of GBV from this past season. I picked up the Blue Chambray Pinup Girl and White Linen Honeycomb in small for half-off.

Any chance you went to Fred Segal in Santa Monica as well?

No, believe it or not I've lived in LA for 14 years and I've never been. Worth checking out?
