Cliff using UK size, Vass using Euro size, how can they be the same?

well of course but do Cliff's UK sizes correspond to the Euro size of Vass? For ex. 10.5UK should equate to a 45Euro if I'm not mistaken... so if I am a 45 in Vass then I should be a 10.5 in Cliff's shoes?

Have gotten word back from Clifford. Unfortunately, he does not have a last in my length and width to build upon.

So I must now think about going all the way for a bespoke last. I had hoped to get away with a modified last.
The other option is to use a wider standard last, but I don't feel it is correct to get a wider shoe to allow for my higher instep. Although I have several OTR shoes that work for me in this way, I want to be able to improve upon fit by going this MTM/bespoke route.

Bespoke last would probably involve travelling to Northampton and extra costs. I have to rethink my options now.

Or, if you happen to travel to Italy, you can ask "Formificio Romagnolo", they do bespoke lasts for individual customers.

Fantastic! Question, though: is it more of a Hungarian aesthetic to paint the edges of the soles with more of an opaque dressing?

imo, the standard last can be altered to your measurements, not?

does cliff take deposits?, its been a month and i feel a little odd not paying a deposit, far to much trust on his part.

Perhaps he just prefers to get payment in full upon completion of the project...instead of having to manage account balances

Update on my Clifford Roberts sample shoe: Fit of the bespoke Springline last is better than any RTW last I've worn by G&G or Cleverley

This last addresses well my high instep as I feel no discomfort upon the first wearing...a problem I've had with all RTW shoes/boots. It is about the same length as my G&G shoes. The shoes feel tighter (or perhaps more snug/closer fitting) and take more work to put on when sliding my feet into them when using a shoe horn. But they are not uncomfortable. When I say tighter fitting, I don't mean they are narrow or short.

I've heard this is common for new bespoke clients when accustomed to wearing RTW lasts. It just takes some getting use to.

I noticed that Clifford cut this shoe a bit shorter, than my other lazyman shoes, around the heel and ankles, thus I requested he raise it a bit on my next commission. Am glad the sample shoe brought this out now

I've only been wearing the sample shoe for the past 3 days but am very encouraged at how well it fits

Did your shoes feel tighter...or more snug/closer fitting, than your RTW shoes, upon the first wearing?

Were adjustments to your lasts needed? And if yes, did the adjustments further improve their fit?

Upon further bespoke commissions, do your bespoke shoes feel more snug than your RTW lasted shoes, or have your feet adapted?
