running socks (jogging question)

what brand/type of socks do you wear while running? do you use the thin kind or the thick ones? and have you found any that truly prevent blisters?

I've worn out quite a few pairs of socks and frankly prefer the thick ones unless it's raining. Right now I like the Under Armor socks that come up to the ankle.

^ Yep underarmour poly-cotton ankle socks are the bomb. Until they get a hole in the heel and they start to stink after heavy usage... Nike dri-fit are ok but because they're so thin, they wear out easy.

My choice is smartwool. Or anything thats a high quality merino wool / synthetic blend such as Teko or some Bridgedales.
The merino based socks last ALOT longer than coolmax type socks (which is what most of the running specialty companies use) and they are amazing in terms of thermal regulation.. they keep our feet warmer in the winter but more comfortable in the summer too. And they also keep your feet drier.. they do an amazing job with moisture management

I personally prefer the ones with some cushion underfoot, but i also have some smartwools that are very thin and i prefer those in the summer.

I mostly run with Balega Enduro socks. They're thinner than usual. I have an Engo Blister Patch applied on the inside of each shoe, where the ball of my foot is. With this system, I rarely ever get blisters. Occasionally, I run with Wrightsock. They're fairly effective because they're dual-layered. They also feel a little weird because of that. My running shoes are 1/2 size smaller than regular sneakers because these socks are thinner. After running with them for a while, I don't see ever going back to the thicker socks.

I know this post is old. Nevertheless, I wear thorlo socks for running I believe they are the best.

I just wear cheapo outlet Nike Dryfit soks, have some thick and some thin. I know my feet are gonna be wrecked regardless. I do have about 20 pairs and I rotate em, so they last a nice while. Some I've had for years.

Prefer thicker socks. Army issues.
