Loop on pants

Can someone tell me the purpose of the loop on the front of (generally) higher end pants, such as Intotex? Thanks

Is this the loop with which to keep your waistcoat from riding up? Just a stab in the dark, dunno.

It's a belt keeper that keeps the belt from moving over. The prong of your belt goes through it before you fasten the belt.

It also prevents the pants from dropping under the belt buckle. A very useful thing to have on your pants, except it makes wearing braces not a good idea.
