Search is such a wonderful tool. So far there have been no responses.

I have one of Alton Lane's suits and it is a dream. The fit is as good or better than my custom suits which cost much more than $500. I'll be grabbing a few more AL suits before the deal is gone.

Has anyone else tried them? I am thinking of going but would be reassured a great deal by hearing about a few members' experiences...

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I've been a long time peruser I'd like to think I have fairly adept sartorial sense, but I typically don't like fiddling with going to high-end men's stores because they feel stuffy to me. I usually get my casual suiting as places like Banana Republic, and higher-end clothes from sample sites like Gilt Groupe or Haute Look, or maybe the occasional visit to Brooks Brothers. Also got a GREAT Gianfranco Ferre Tux from Vanity Lounge (don't know if any of y'all know it). That's just to give you a sense of my shopping tastes so you know where I'm coming from. Anyway, the CEO of Alton Lane is actually a UVa alum (my alma mater), so I decided to check it out after reading the Urban Daddy article. I'm from Memphis, so I wasn't able to visit their showroom (with all the high-tech gadgetry), but got my measurements taken at my local tailor and simply emailed them to the Alton Lane folks to participate in their Beta Round. I ordered a shirt and suit, and am extremely pleased. The shirt is a perfect fit, much more so than I'm used to, and I love the little touches I was able to add to make it unique (special fabric lining on the cuffs and placket; extra button holes on a barrel cuff for cufflinks, etc.). Truthfully, there's not to much reason to buy a dress shirt anywhere else again. As for the suit, I quite like it as well (mainly because I love the lining I chose). Although I will have to say that the pants were a bit too short for me (I prefer a little break). However, I informed Alton Lane of the problem, and they were great about it. I took the suit to my local tailor to fix it, and Alton Lane reimbursed (with credit) me 120% of the alteration cost. So, I really can't complain too much From what I can tell, the fits are pretty dead-on for me (which it should be, considering it's custom), but I still would like to get up to NYC sometime to get remeasured in that booth they have. And, apparently they have a lot more materials available to peruse in the showroom than through the Beta Round materials I had access to. Anyway, that's my two cents. I also did a little review on facebook that I've since reposted on Yelp with a couple shots of my suit (actually, the shirt I'm wearing in the pic is my Alton Lane purchase as well).

Whatever... I suppose the best thing to do would be to not answer the poster's question then. Further, I suppose for you it's always online marketing if someone posts a positive review.

I just was really pleased with the product, and am excited to support a fellow alum.

Ya this thread seems suspect. I'm interested in the concept, just maybe not by these guys. Their PDF pressbook seems a little "high-school" project. The fact that they advertise booze and rugs is like the restaurant I came up with in grade nine french - Chez Classy.

Valet did a quick piece on them today: http://www.valetmag.com/the-mix/0521...ndex1_top_lead While they mention the availability of fabrics from H&S and Dormeuil, I saw nothing about canvassing so I was a bit suspicious, even though I've been looking for a decent online MTM place.

Still no reviews? Anyone?

What is the difference between the Blue Label, Black Label and Premium (?) Lines? Is there a difference in the construction or the fabric?

I'm under the impression that blue and black are defined by their different fabrics. No idea about the premium. I've been looking around for reviews on this place but haven't found anything helpful. Their materials seem of good quality (as far as listed brand names go) and their service reps are friendly but I've got no idea how the construction of the clothes themselves is. I've got an appointment scheduled at their Manhattan showroom, and I'll report back once I've had the chance to check out their samples.

In the meantime, I'd really appreciate it if anyone else had experience with this shop to share.
