    Suit Jacket Sleeve Length Poll

I ask my tailor make measurements before and after moving around when in the jacket, as I have found that the sleeves can easily get hung up during the course of the work day and look too short at times if the measurements are only taken in a stationary position. The first time he found it a...

    Tote bags and business attire

You want to carry a tote bag with a suit????? Are you a woman? I don't know if this was the style in Philadelphia in the 70's, but if I saw a guy carrying a tote bag, I'd wonder why he wants to look like my mom or my wife going to a Junior League meeting. As for rummaging around in your...

    Tote bags and business attire

I think most people address this problem by carrying a sturidly constructed bag from a retail store. Zero cost, easy to cycle out to add some variety and generally in close proximity unless you throw them out immediately. I recall an old, decrepit economics professor of mine in college regularly...

    Tote bags and business attire

Can anyone suggest a non-profit organization that people don't associate with any political party that might offer tote bags?

    Tote bags and business attire

Beware, who one donates to says a lot about themselves. Yes, I have given thought to that. Do you think that a punlic classical radio station is non-political enough not to offend anyone who might notice the bag?

    Tote bags and business attire

But can you carry apples in it? That's a good point. I thought maybe the right tote bag would be discreet but if anyone notice I would hope that it would just give the impression that I was being practical using a bag that I received as a thank you gift for donating money.

    Tote bags and business attire

What about something from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods? A discreet logo, that is. I would rather it be a non-profit organization. I remember when growing up in Philadelphia that many respectable looking older people would have tote bags from Whyy which was a public radio station that played...

    style and attractiveness

I feel that professional business attire can only be one way and not the other. I agree with you but also would like to say that it takes a special touch (or "finesse" in French) to subtly add your own personal style into a professional business wardrobe.

    style and attractiveness

I think that casual style and attractiveness are both very subjective but when discussing professional business attire taste levels can be more easily defined.

    Tote bags and business attire

A tote from PBS would look ridiculous with a suit. I have this problem everyday; my pockets carry a cellphone, keys, ID/card case, iPod, and often more. The easiest option is just to get a small man bag or murse. I usually use a bigger messenger bag if I have more than the above listed. I'm...

    Tote bags and business attire

Sometimes I have a few things to carry with me from the car to some of my appointments or errands which I would rather not put in my pockets or rummage around for in a briefcase. I am thinking about such things as a cell phone, organizer, writing implement and even a comb. It seems that a tote...

Do you stuff your jacket sleeves?

Kasper, I have to ask your opinion on this: does scavenging for used newspapers and used tissue paper (known to some with a penchant for jargonistic vocabulary as 'trash') constitute appropriate 'business professional' behavior? Well I remember reading about a successful executive who in his...

Advice Sought: Help me out Lawyers and all of SF

Are you really that sensitive that you care about some lame steroids comment? Sometimes I also don't find it easy to ignore inappropriate comments such as this in the workplace even if the person is known for being rude.

Do you stuff your jacket sleeves?

Uhh, while I don't think I'd take the 'free' newspapers from Starbucks (Kasper, you are sure that these do not belong to the other patrons?), or sort through a store's trash for tissue paper, I have to jump in here to defend Kasper's idea, in part. While I don't see the purpose of stuffing...

    1980s television programs

21 Jump Street all the way. Can you remember any war based TV shows from the 1980s? The only one I can think of now is Tour of Duty which was like a cinematic masterpiece broadcast on a weekly basis.

    I don't like Allen-Edmonds

I recently bought a pair of Park Avenues in black by Allen Edmonds and feel that this model has reached the highest taste level for a conservative business shoe. I am very happy with the purchase.

Advice Sought: Help me out Lawyers and all of SF

Some of the replies remind me of the Seinfeld episode where George is insulted for eating a lot of shrimp at a business meeting. I don't think he handled the situation properly in the episode despite being rudely insulted also.

    1980s television programs

I wonder if television will ever again reach the creativity of the 1980s. Does anyone remember Riptide that had a robot that helped solve crimes? You really don't see many robots on TV anymore. I think that my favorite crime show has to be Stingray with Equalizer as a close second.
