What sleeve length should a non-suit jacket be?

I recently received a nice jacket by Vince, seen here. The sleeves are long for me. I know that the sleeves of a suit jacket should end right at about the wrist bone when the arms are relaxed by your side. But what are the "rules" for a non-suit jacket in order for it look good? I'd like...

    Levis number implosion

I'm really disappointed with your comment and thought people on SF were more polite than elsewhere. You being condescending is just disappointing. I'm fairly comfortable with the way I look and besides, if I was 15-20lbs heavier as someone like the user name "BigRob" would probably see as...

    Levis number implosion

Thanks very much for your input. I've just about had it with all the numbers. And the "Fit Guide" on the levis web page that I was directed to didn't have the same description as when I went into a Macy's store, so I guess this added to my confusion. On the website, it says the 505s and...

    Levis number implosion

Thanks very much for that link! It's very helpful. I've seen the term "carrot-fit" thrown around. Is that how the 508 is described?

    Levis number implosion

Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could help me find the similarities and differences between Levis 504, 505, 508 and 513 jeans? I have looked over the internet extensively and with my original purpose just trying to find differences between 513, 514 and 505, I ran into the above...

    Wall + Water suits.

I've done internet and SF searches but can't come up with anything. Has anyone tried on or own any Wall + Water suits? I found that they are made by Gilt Group. Does anyone have an experiences with them? They look nice.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get a good eal on a descent suit in the Orange County o

Because of stature, both physically and monetarily, I've been typically trying on suits from the tailored-fit section of BR and Ludlow department of J.Crew. With my very slim build (I need a 36S), both types of suits fit me perfectly, however I was hoping to get another suit that was more high...

When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale?

No dice. I'm a size 36s with an athletic build. My suits need to be slim-fitting, otherwise they look boxy. My first suit I ever bought for a high school dance had me looking that way and I did not enjoy it. I'm somewhat wiser now. However, i still need help deciding if Black Fleece is a...

When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale?

So, some of the Black Fleece suits are on sale at 50% off. I think the style is over priced at their normal price range. The sale doesn't do to much for me as it is still quite expensive> I have been looking for a reliable, long lasting navy suit that is good investment. Is this Brooks...

Brooks Brothers Black Label -Still too expensive when on sale or a good pick-up?

So, I was thinking of picking up one of the Brooks Brothers Back Label navy suits from their recent sale. It's difficult for me to find a suit that fits my body-type and so I usually have to go with something slim-fitting...

Can anyone give advice on how these suits compare?

Yeah, the re-sale value on those suits doesn't seem to be great but that could just be the case for most low-end suits. I'm not sure how much to trust a second-hand, low-end suit. Unfortunately, a 36'' in the chest is hard to come by.

Can anyone give advice on how these suits compare?

Thanks for the well wishes. I have a very slim body type and so finding the right cut for a suit has proved to be difficult. If a suit isn't more tailored or slim fitting, it feels and looks boxy on me and I can see the shoulders jet out a little in my periphery.

Can anyone give advice on how these suits compare?

Thanks for bringing up those great points. They are really helpful. The BR suit I was looking at is actually a "tailored" fit which isn't as slim or have as high as arm holes as the "monogram" line. The Jack Victor suit I was looking at is described as having a "tailored" fit, but how it...

Can anyone give advice on how these suits compare?

Okay, so I'm poor, but I'm looking for a good navy suit. I found these two at a reasonable price and with discounts/coupon codes can get them for under $400. Can someone here tell me what may be the better buy? 1)...

If I was building a suit wardrobe with a navy or black suit and had only $400 to spend...

Okay, thanks for everyone's advice. In your opinion, is this particular suit an okay quality? http://www.bluefly.com/Jack-Victor-navy-Loro-Piana-super-120s-wool-two-button-suit-with-flat-front-pants/p/319518803/detail.fly

If I was building a suit wardrobe with a navy or black suit and had only $400 to spend...

Would Jack Victor be a better investment than Banana Republic? Or is neither a good investment? I'd like to have this suit for weddings, interviews and possibly hospital work. I am a very slim guy, wearing size 36 with a 38'' chest. It's hard to find something that looks right on me. I know...

I committed suit StyleForum blasphemy today....

After reading up on suits and being given valuable advice & suggestions from this site and its members, I committed SF blasphemy today by ordering my first navy suit from Banana Republic, a chain that sells fused garments made in China. Around this site, BR seems to be expressed much the same...

Can these shoes be used for school interviews, business and/or weddings?

Thanks to everyone's input. I slept on it for a few days and decided not to buy them. They are not practical for my needs.

Can these shoes be used for school interviews, business and/or weddings?

Hello, I was hoping to get your opinion on the following dress shoes - What kind of events can they be used for? school interviews, business meetings and/or weddings? Are laceless shoes too casual? Or can they be professional? And what color suit can they work with? (Navy, Black, Light...
