Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Quick questions: 1. This shirt more or less fits right, yeah? Like I should buy more of this brand/cut? 2. Whoah, what is going on here. Ignoring the shirt, are these different patterns?? When I got the jacket (light brown zig-zagy) and pants (very fine blue checkerboard) I just assumed...

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

Thanks so much to you, Claghorn, and kulata for all of your comments. I really, really appreciate your guys' thoughts on shoe options and had no idea about a shoe <-> tie color connection. I'm also frankly impressed you are able to identify the name of the jacket just by looking. Yes, I...

Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe)

Hi everyone on this thread. Somebody mentioned this is a place to get good advice and the title appears to suggest the same. Apologies for the non-sequitor, but if anyone has thoughts about a suit I recently bought, I'm all ears. I posted on the Tailor's thread, and got a quite helpful reply...

What makes a suit jacket sport coat-able? I don't understand why every jacket couldn't be worn separately, except maybe business stripes.

Many thanks to all three of you for the replies. That photo looks great. I saw this type of collar described in a book where it seemed so unexpected and beautiful, but wasn't sure how it would play out in real life. I think I will give it a shot.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Hello, tailors. I just wanted to say you guys are awesome for being generous with your time and expertise and offering terrific advice. Many thanks in advance for any and all of your thoughts. The suit is linen/wool/silk off the rack with some alterations, but I don't remember what exactly; I'm...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

On the scale of formality between a button-down and a contrast spread color, where does a club collar fall? Does it work with thin faces? And could it go with a straight barrel cuff, i.e. neither mitered nor rounded?

Riding a bike while wearing a business suit...

Oh interesting. A rear rack--I hadn't thought of that. They normally look so dorky/out-of-place on a fixed gear, but I suppose compromises must be made. I see how this would be easier if I had a commuter bike. Hm.

Riding a bike while wearing a business suit...

I hope nobody minds my re-resurrecting this. I had a couple of questions about wearing a suit/odd jacket/dress shoes while biking that were not addressed here. I guess I should also add I have a fixed gear with a fairly aggressive geometry. It's fun, I love it, and cannot imagine replacing it...

TRAIN WRECK CHALLENGE - SC/TIE WITH JEANS!

Ah, I see. I am also new here. I figure a thread on train wrecks is precisely the place for a first post. I am neither especially fuddy nor duddy nor a dad, but I did rather think this looked good when I wore it the other day.
