A toilet / wash bag in fine calf, with bridle leather trim and strap. Lined with a washable fabric PU material. I was sub-contracted to repair luggage and cases for Harrods and Gucci when I worked in London, and this was my 'take' on a 1930's? Gucci bag.

An entirely hand stitched attache case, made for the advertising photographer Ken Griffiths, to hold his Leica cameras and accessories.

A bridle pigskin Hold all ( duffle in the US ) with Bridle strapping and handles. Machine stitched main body, all chapes and the detachable shoulder strap are hand stitched. Lined with a cotton duck material

I call these Brief/Attache cases. The design came from a case that I had in for repair back in the 80's. I think it may have been a reps case? These are entirely hand stitched, the base and side panels are stiffened, and lined with bridle, the cases are empty inside, and suprisingly light and comfortable to carry. A favourite enduring design.

A selection of Bridle Panel Hide Duffle Bags.

A challenging wee piece! I was asked to copy / interpret a Victorian Officers Mess/shaving kit case. The front/base/back and lid are a single piece of bridle, entirely hand stitched. Only 9" wide, this took 32 1/2 hours to make.

A black Bridle leather Brief case. all hand stitched, except for the partition board binding.

An XL sized, Scallop fronted, 3 pocket/2 partition brief case, in a dark Green bridle leather I had made for me. Entirely hand stitched, except for the partition board top binding.

A bespoke piece from last year. The client asked me to copy a small Edwardian Brushes Case, so that the hand carved Ivory gentlemens brushes could be passed on down in the family. A small piece, only 7" wide, this still took 22 1/2 hours to make, all hand stitched. The interior is shown below.

This is a 3 pocket Bridle Leather brief case, with a scallopped front and extra corner protection pieces. Entirely hand stitched, apart from the partition board top binding. Made using J. E. Sedgewicks conker bridle butt. Photographs do not do the leather colour justice, I love this leather.

A bridle leather 'string or oat grain' pattern leather Underarm Folio, Entirely hand stitched, lined with a pigskin lining. I hadn't made these for a number of years, but now have zip made in Switzerland by the Riri company, that I am happy with.

A top framed brief case, in J> E. Sedgewicks Conker Bridle Butt, catching the early evening sun. Entirely hand stitched, apart from the 2 partition boards top binding, they are lined with pigskin. The interior of the case is otherwise unlined, the leather will age well inside, whereas I find that linings don't. These are about 30 hours of bench time.
Aug 31, 2012
A bespoke addition to the Scalloped fronted conker brief case. The client wanted an alsortment of pockets on the rear partition board, along with a couple of pen loops, and a D-ring to attach his keys to.

The interior of the Edwardian Brushes Case copy.

A London Colour 3 pocket / 2 partition brief case with detachable shoulder strap. Made using J. E. Sedgwicks bridle butt, the best leather I have ever worked with. Entirely hand stitched, except for the bridle binding at the top of the partition boards, subject to little wear or stress, machine stitching there is neater and faster. All the strapping is hand stitched, rather than riveted.

What we call a Duffle Bag in the UK, I make a few different sizes of these, using sedgewicks bridle panel hide, a softer but durable 1.8mm bridle leather, with a beautiful richness of tone, this one in London colour. these are lined with a cotton duck.
