SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

I like the idea behind the MTO shirt program. I just wish that they didn’t increase the price of MTM shirts along with it

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Oh my god you’re right. Looking again, it doesn’t seem as bad as only 2 sleeve lengths per neck size. However the selection has definitely been reduced, mostly to the detriment of longer-armed folks. What’s strange to me is that our sizes are available in that Green Stripe Poplin, but not in...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Vintage polo Ralph Lauren on eBay. Can often find them new with tags for $40-50. I like the Andrew (double forward pleats), but if you want flat front, look for the Prospect. All have about 11.5-12.5 inch rise.

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Is it just me or does Spier run out of stuff like super quick now? Like they just dropped some lightweight oxfords and they are already all sold out in my size (15 34 contemporary). There is a green stripe with a 15 34 contemporary available, so obviously they still make this size. What gives?

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Just got the DB Polo Ralph Lauren suit back from the tailor. Waist taken in, sleeve shortened, jacket shortened, pants widened. I’m very happy with the result!

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Thanks for your input. However, I am partial to the wide pants. I just prefer a more 30s-40s look. I talked to my tailor, he said with these pants he could take the hem from 8” to 9-9.5”, so I went ahead with it. Will post the after photos.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Just following up on this. Took the suit to my tailor, and he advised me to proceed with shortening the jacket 1”. Also taking in the waist, shortening the sleeve, and widening the pants to help balance the slightly large jacket.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

The blue one’s shoulders look fine to me. If it’s washed cotton, as it appears to be, it’s gonna have a little asymmetry by nature of the fabric. Could also be the spalla camicia being a little more pronounced on the left. But nothing to obsess over. It looks good! If the jacket fits well...

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Hello, just received this vintage Polo Ralph Lauren DB jacket and need some advice as to whether it can be shortened 1” without compromising the balance of the jacket too much. I already had pants in the matching fabric, so I was ecstatic to find this in good condition in my size. From the...

Eidos Napoli 'Ciro' Double Breasted Jacket

Hello, is this still for sale?

Can tailor turn turtleneck to crewneck?

The turtleneck has pretty wide ribbing on the neck, similar to the cuffs and hem. Visually, I think it would look good as a crewneck. But given what the others have said, I think the risk is greater than the reward. Often is the case with knitted garments. Oh well. Thanks for the input, gents.

Fused or unfused collar for tuxedo shirt?

You’re absolutely right, the shirt in question is for black tie though. Don’t think I’ll ever be fortunate enough to have occasion for white tie!

Fused or unfused collar for tuxedo shirt?

Right, that’s been my experience as well. Think I’ll go fused. Thanks!

Fused or unfused collar for tuxedo shirt?

Yes, double French cuffs, turndown spread collar. Marcella on the collar, bib, and cuffs.

Fused or unfused collar for tuxedo shirt?

Thank you. Would you do the same for the cuffs?

Fused or unfused collar for tuxedo shirt?

I’m ordering a custom tuxedo shirt from Luxire and am wondering if I should go with a fused or unfused collar. I’ve only ever gone with unfused collars, but as this shirt is more formal, I thought the collar could use some light-medium fusing to help it sit straight and neat. Thoughts?

Can tailor turn turtleneck to crewneck?

Actually, not a bad idea. This could work if I was wearing a collared shirt with it. Thanks!

Can tailor turn turtleneck to crewneck?

I recently moved to Louisiana where it is fairly warm most of the year. The winters are much milder, and when I do get the chance to break out my sweaters, I find it is a little too warm for a turtleneck. I have some beautiful vintage Shetland turtlenecks, and I was wondering if it would be...

The Least Official Natalino Appreciation Thread

+1 the DB looks beautiful. I love the multiple buttoning options idea with the soft lapel roll, been meaning to try that out on a MTM jacket. Looks like the jacket even has a lower shank button so when you’re wearing it on the lowest button, the internal flap doesn’t move around. Just wish...

Is the rugby size chart correct? It seems to run very large: https://www.spierandmackay.com/fit-guide/Rugby%20Shirt%20FW22 It says size S has a 19.3 inch shoulder, for example. I’ve reached out to CS but perhaps someone who’s received the shirt can chime in.
