    The Official-ish DC Thread

No derbys? Why not get something within dress code that’s super cheap. Maybe it’s glued and you throw it out after a year. But it beats spending 500 on ugly shoes because you’re forced to.

Better & cheaper to buy right than buy twice or 3x and be sending your walnut hideous abominations to goodwill. do you not have shoes for your feet that are good enough? Who is going to care if you wear a loafer with a suit for a few weeks while you figure out which cap toe Oxford you should...

Maybe Al bazzar in Milano? If you want to visit a fabric store, il vecchio drapiere - a cool store to just look at the fabrics they have. It’s a department store but la rinescente near the duomo. Maybe you’ll find something at boggi or at e. Marinella. (But if you’re going to Napoli, the e...

Got it. I guess the key question is what is the budget. Are they? I thought allen Edmonds clocked in around 450. Isn’t carmina 495? So I guess a slight difference.

    The Official-ish DC Thread

why not try carmina? For me, Allen Edmonds make a really ugly shoe. And talking to cobblers, they also have cut corners over the years. They’re a legacy brand that, unfortunately, isn’t what they used to be. I have tremendous respect for their history, but much like brooks brothers, they’re a...

I got you mixed up with @WoolyLamb! Apologies to you both!! I’m not familiar with their offerings but I recall them having some offerings around 400. That’s probably what you’re looking for. I can imagine. Moving & children are expensive.

I think suitsupply is your best bet. I think you were there when gianluca and i were talking about how suitsupply provides a really good product for the price point. Obviously it’s not bespoke, but it’s a nice shape / silhouette & doesn’t break the bank. Especially if you are a standard size...

I’m also on team solaro, although I prefer the cut / silhouette of the first one more. But, I don’t, generally like a 3 button jacket. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just not my preference.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

No breeze whatsoever? I would’ve thought it’d have some breeze because it was by the water. So basically what you said, Florida summers, except all year round, haha. So it basically doesn’t change? How the heck did they decide to build there? Like that just sounds miserable - can you imagine...

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

Sounds like a good excuse to get a tuxedo. I suppose it could be worn with trousers too (not just flannel). But somehow the black color works better in the winter than summer.

It’s never been an issue for me either. But, there are others who have worn them more. Right now, I just have a gaziano versatile-man & a Chelsea.

That sounds right. Florida is also a tropical climate. In Singapore does it also rain like crazy in the afternoons, after which it gets better after the rain? (The way I always describe it, think about a pressure cooker & releasing the steam.)

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

What if you’re a lazy man? I have a pair of lazymans. I like them. Order a lazy man & then wear them around & get back to me. Mine are black wholecut. I’ve worn them with a tuxedo, suit and flannels / odd jacket. Find me a loafer or monk strap that can do that! Talk about versatile, man!

Extensions? He seemed to know a lot about me from my interactions with him on the boards. Does that also extend to blocking on styleforum? Because I’m honorably blocked by him on styleforum too. Either way, you’re saying, not only does he randomly tweet at Rudy guliani, he has him blocked as...

Republicans live rent free in his head 😂. It’s why he stalked me on twitter and blocked me even though I had no idea he even had a twitter! I only found out because someone on the on going bespoke thread linked it & it wouldn’t load.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

For some reason, I thought you were in England. You might want to send the photo to will field in Washington DC. Great guy & ask him if he can fix it.

I suspect it’s repairable. But ask a tailor who you have a relationship to take a look at it. I wouldn’t trust it to just anyone
