I doubt that would be the case. CXL on my older GS boots have really softened up and become super pliable, and I do not think the Minerva leather can become that soft. Having said that , they are already way more comfortable than they were out of the box and so I am sure with adequate wear they...- basu13

Actually, it's not that bad, though it took me a few wears for the boot to be comfortable. I personally prefer the more hefty and substantial feel of the veg tan leather compared to the CXL on some of my other boots. But if one is looking for a soft and yielding leather like CXL, Minerva...- basu13

No adverse effects. Positive effect is that it gives me grip and negates the slippery leather surface and protects the leather sole from wearing out fast.
