Thanks for posting what you buy javyn.

I was just doing some searching and saw that GNC has Spirulina capsules. Do you know if these will do the same/similar thing as your Spirulina powder? I'm considering it because it's local and relatively inexpensive ($6) to try.

Based upon this thread, I started taking GREENS+ yesterday. Too early to give any definitive feedback, but I seem to have avoided the afternoon lag I sometimes feel.

I went with the greens+ multi+, which include multi-vitamins... hope it does me well during exams. Hope the multi-vitamin doesn't interfere because of "competition for absorption" like javyn said.

Has anyone here actually noticed any benefit from Greens+? I've never tried it myself and have heard it decried as a bunch of powdered grass. I don't really think it's something I'd spend money on anyway; I'm just curious.

javny, are there any difference between powder and pills, in term of quality? (concerning chlorella and spirulina) Or is it just a price matter?

Along the same lines, has anyone tried mangosteen or acai which are touted as superfoods as well?

Correct, they are horribly out of whack. I think what they basically did was back in the 50s, or whenever they started, was they just kept looking at what they considered to be "healthy" individuals every year and looked at their diets and bloodwork. Well as food became shittier and things changed, so did their diets and bloodwork. Along with it, the FDA regulations changed as well.

I have a regular customer that sells Mangosteen juice. He swears by it, though in traditional Chinese medicine theory they are thought to actually be detrimental to your health.

To my understanding, powder digests more easily than tablets. Not to mention, tablets surely have binders and fillers.

If you can't stomach the taste, I'd definitely just get the powder and cap it yourself. That way you'll still save money.

I haven't tried mangoseen or acai....I've tried Noni, and thought it was complete BS. Especially when I was unable to find one study on its effects.

Some of the T-Nation guys were saying this before Biotest released a somewhat similar product. Theirs is a concentration of powdered fruits and vegetables.

I haven't tried either one; just wondering if anyone else had.

To you guys who take Greens+ and other mixtures,

What do you think of them? I took the Garden of Life brand greens formula and wasn't impressed with it. Sure it gave me a little bit of a pick me up, but nothing like taking 5 grams of straight spirulina or chlorella rather than a mixture of a bunch of stuff. Seems like wheatgrass, alfalfa, and the algaes are the same, except the algaes are FAR more nutrient dense and have far more chlorophyll. Therefore, I always considered most of the ingredients in those greens powders to be fillers.

edit: on a slightly unrelated note, anyone try maca powder?
