Rolling Stone Keith Richards, the new face of Louis Vuitton, looms over bicyclist on billboard outside luxe bags store on New Bond St., London.

The iconic 64-year-old guitarist will appear in magazine ads worldwide this month to push the French company's luxe line of fancy bags and suitcases.

"Keith Richards is timeless and ageless," said Rita Clifton, who heads the United Kingdom division of brand consultant Interbrand. "He's lean and mean and he's still current."

His face deeply creased, Richards is shown holding a guitar with a custom-made Vuitton case for his instrument sitting behind him. "Some journeys cannot be put into words," the ad reads.

He seems to be keeping modern pirate fashion alive as well.

I saw the ad over the weekend.

Richards looks like an 90-year old Italian grandmother.

I prefer Gorby. Maybe they can do a new "birthmark monogram".

GELESS!? Hilarious. His face, even with all that make up, looks like a catcher's mit. He's grotesque if you ask me.

Alice has considerable experience as a pitchman for upscale products given his former role promoting Callaway golf clubs.

True, but no fashion items that I'm aware of.

I liked the Gorbachev ad better:

In both ads, I like how they portay the luggage as ordinary thing used in the course of the day.

I read someplace that if you translate the headline of the magazine inside the bag it reads something to the effect that Putin was behind killing that guy in London who died from plutonium exposure.

My translation of the cover: "Litvinenko's killing: They wanted to turn in the suspect for $7,000" This is certainly a cryptic message, but I don't see how it implies that Putin had anything to do with the killing. (I'm not taking a position on this one way or the other.)

Alice Cooper and John Varvatos is a bit more understandable than Keith Richards and LV.

JV has used Cheap Trick, Velvet Revolver, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and I'm sure a few I'm missing in his ads. JV has a new store in the former CBGB club as well.

They could use his skin to make some luggage.

I like the Gorby ad. I thought it was great when I first saw it. I think it came out last summer.
