I don't know about that. While I'm generally not a fan of their stuff, it's better to have kids growing up dressing in polos and the like rather than the flat brimmed caps and 4XL t-shirts. The A&F style makes for an easy shift into an appropriate adult style.

We do have one guy who comes to the shop to buy cigars, he's gotta be 50, and he's always wearing the super-destroyed jeans, Hollister or AE sweatshirt, and Uggs. It's mildly entertaining.

That probably worked out just fine in the early 90's when you could actually buy decent business casual clothing there, but it is a challenge now - even at 30 as the guy in the article points out. And you have not lived until you've seen one of your national group leaders, who is probably 60 and a very respected authority in his industry, shopping A&F for something he can wear on a prospect call.

Johnny, what kind of professional services? I'm in Detroit too by the way.

I'll debate if polos and distressed chinos make for an easier transition than oversized T's and cap. Jay-Z made the transition somewhat seamlessly, which has more to do with resources and recognition than what end of the casual wear spectrum you started from. But the more important question is, where is your shop? I'm always looking for new places to buy cigars. Feel free to PM me about it.

Distressed jeans and flip-flop with a face like that!!!

He is past Botox....His face looks strange and a bit out-of -shape in a Joan Rivers way to be frank...

I do not know a lot about A&F but it does look like Ralph Lauren or a trendier T Hillfilger ...
Is it for college kids or fraternity evenings?

So, being as I'm 40 now, should I be getting rid of my Abercrombie t-shirts? I still like my ripped-up AE jeans and my flip-flops.

What a freak show. Sad to say, I see 60 year olds in jeans and flip-flops all the time. These guys are attorneys, surgeons, entrepreneurs.

I barely remember A&F in its pre **** days. Needless to say I don't shop there. But...I think it's great that they've put one over on the ebonics-talking, MTV-watching, rap star-worhipping demographic, conscripting an entire generation of college kids into worshipping a white ideal.

That's it, I'm now officially black! My ordering my iced-out escalade as we speak, it'll match my goldplated AKs.

Sorry, I know you aren't. By your post alone, as it was not in ebonics, as khaki sack stipulated, you're out. No half measures! P.s. and here I thought that mattjames was gone forever
