If you live in the midwest my favorite offerings are from Bells. Their Two Hearted Ale is probably my all time favorite beer. They have a kick ass double IPA winter seasonal called Hopslam that is absolutely amazing.

There are so many good microbreweries now that there is no need to drink Bud or Miller anymore... even most of the "luxury" brands and imports like Heineken, Stella, Blue Moon, Bass, et al pale in comparison to their respective counterparts in the microbrew world. For instance Bell's Kalamazoo Stout kicks Guiness' ass by a large margin. Actually any stout from a respectable brewer should be better than Guiness. This holds true for just about any locally-brewed beer vs established brands.

I cringe when a restaurant has a bunch of awesome microbrews ON TAP and people are still drinking Miller Lite in bottles. Ahhh the humanity!!!

I'm not that avid a beer-trinker but from time to time I like one:

Kozel

Budweiser (Czech)
krumau_budweiser_4.jpg

Or several of certain smaller breweries like Siebensternbräu in Vienna and/or also in South Germany...many of the large international brands taste similar and all of them taste a bit shallow and uneventful. American Budweiser beer has little taste at all! (yet is like water with alc, nearly...

)...some Japanese beers are ok especially the ones limited to special seasons like autumn etc, Sapporo is ok.
