If you find a bunch of dorks standing around talking about clothes intimidating, well ...

Seriously, it's not.

Last year, I didn't have any decently fitting jackets, so I didn't think I could go. Considering the standards of clothing you guys talk about. I ended up not going because I felt a little intimidated then.

I have a couple now, but I still worry about the fitting. Oh well, closing my eyes and going anyway!

Thanks for clarifying for me shawndo. That is what I was referring to. I am not intimidated by the social setting or the function.

Yeah, but look at it from the other side. Many of us may talk a good game, but seeing us in person you may think "That slob thinks he's well dressed?" Imagine the schadenfreude potential.

Yep, you'll find yourself saying this more often than not.

I'd go but I'm both intimidated of the possibilty of my sleeve pitch being the subject of ridicule and the fact that I am very reclusive.

Are you trying to bring out the Devil's Island gang in full force?

Me too.....I'll be hiding behind shoes, though.

Making fun of fellow sartorialists on the Internet! How could they stoop so low?! Positively shocking, I say! Shocking!

I think I opened a can of worms.

Anyway, I have requested an invitation and as long as I can come up with a solid alibi for my girlfriend (of 8 years with whom I live) I will go.

She knows you all are the reason that I went from Cole Haan to Alden and C&J. She likes the way I dress now but there is a substantial difference in my clothing budget pre and post forum.

I look at it as a matter of corrected priorities. Thanks all.

Alibi for your GF? Why not bring her along as a guest? These guys, who like to think of themselves as "gentleman"

, will be less likely to make fun of you if you are with a woman.

At least that's what I think. At least that's partially the reason my wife is coming with me.

Another thing,

Manton will be there, so he can autograph his book for you, if you have it.

I have to say, I was a little reluctant to go again, thinking it might just be more of the same, but the presenters this year look great. I have yet to see the Martegani's in detail and want to take a look. I love the idea of relatively affordable special order shoes.
