You know, I rather hate thick silk ties.

They all tend to look this:

Carlo Franco's are decently made for what they are, and certainly there is no skimping on silk. I've found that very few of the designs hold up to frequent use, however, and they are rarely the first out of the drawer before a work day or evening out.

Seaward & Stern, on the other hand, has some really exceptional stuff. I do wish their 7-folds were cheaper, because the one I have is one of the best ties I own.

My wife has informed me that she will consider the puchase of any tie pictured in this thread as grounds for divorce.

I'm going to send one to your house just for that purpose. And then, she is mine! Constance always wins in the end.

Good one.

When I see these ties, I picture some cheesy sales guy at Banrey's trying to sell me dolce and gabbana suits and Berluti shoes as business wear.

Given that option, I think Mrs. iammatt will take the entire lot of Naploi Coast ties,
and COD at that!

NJ doesn't have a coast.

And even if it did, ties wouldn't be worn there.

I have one CF tie, from the early days, and I think the quality is very good.

Concordia's experience tracks with mine: I don't wear it that often, and less and less as time goes on. At the time, I thought it was the quietest and classiest one he offered, and it may well have been. Still, it's not quite in keeping with what I reach for first.

New Jersey doesn't have a coast?

Many villages along New Jersey's coastline facing the Atlantic Ocean are primarily summer-residents only.

It was just a joke anyway, but I could swear Jersey has land near a shore.

It was a joke meant to emphasive that Jerseyites say shore (as opposed to a
New England coast or warmer climate beach).

But your proof of Jersey's having a shore was priceless.

I don't know if it's the pollution or the unmitigated awesomeness that requires a different word.

Yes, the soaking up sophistication and New Jersey coast made me laugh.
