A good day today. I dropped into TK Maxx just as they were pricing up their "Final Reductions" following the holiday clearance. I picked up a Marta Ponti briefcase (missing a shoulder strap but I have plenty spare for those few times when I need one) for £10 (RRP apparently £300), and this Principe pure cashmere overcoat in perfect condition (and in my size) for £17...the fabric is gorgeous. Also got a navy Canali sportcoat in LP Tasmanin Super 100's for £33.

Oh, and a Kent brush for £1!

Does anyone know anything about Principe? I believe they have a store in Florence and I've seen them referred to as the Italian Brooks Brothers. Any comments on their quality?

Just arrived in my mailbox today: these Tiffany & Co. sterling silver cuff links, bought on eBay for $20, shipping included.

Sorry for the blurry cell phone picture.

Today:

a pair of brown wool brooks brothers trousers

a pair of white sperry top siders slipons that look unworn

a blue striped made to order BB dress shirt with french cuffs, which I decided had sleeves that were too short once I got home. Not sure if they can be mended by tailoring but its a nice shirt...

+ 1, lost my job....so Thursdays have been relegated as thrifting day. All others are sit and home and relax days until the weather warms up (-7 with -27 below windchills at the moment).

Thrifting is a long slog. You can't go into it expecting to find anything. You'll be disapointed.

On a related note I picked up a vintage HSM topcoat in a lovely olive/black glenplaid.
