I am not talking about Asians residing in Western countries. I'm talking about Pacific Islanders who sport Emo cuts? What's the reason for this trend?

Please provide some basis for your generalization.

Err, they don't. Anyway, lots of "typical emo" haircuts are adapted late 1990's - early 2000's highly-texturised women's haircuts.
Edit: except for the stupid fringe that seems popular with emo guys.

Assuming your observation is correct, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess... personal preference?

I blame MTV. It's the "asian boyband" look.

Of all the people I know -- which includes more than a few people in the music biz -- I can think of only two men with haircuts which you may remotely consider emo. I've also been around southeast asia, and indeed most of us have pretty boring conservative haircuts.

What exactly are you asking?

Are you asking why Tahitians, Fujians, Hawaiians, Maorians wear their hair long and unkepmpt? I'm sure they've been doing that for ages, hundreds of years before Emo kids begain infesting this planet.

You'd have to remove my girlfriend off of them first. I don't think you're man enough to take her on.
