Il Portone is supposed to be one of the grand old names of Italian shirtmaking, according to local acquaintances of mine in Rome. The ones in pic above are RTW, but they also make MTM and self-measure MTM Ã¡ la Jantzen etc. Website. The shop is old-world and very friendly, they sell nothing but shirts, ties, pajamas and boxers made from shirting fabric, as far as I could see.

How much does Portone cost? I couldn't find it easily on their website.

Here is what you are looking at: A tallish 70's style collar; button down, not that you can see that. Mitered yoke. Bond cuff. These were my specifications. The House style is a cut that is very close to the body (darts).

The Trend signature panel inside the collar is also shown and what I call their 'surprise buttons'. In this case they chose a wonderful yellow.

Trend is wonderful to work with and I wish Don and his staff much success.

Yes, if the shirt is extreme, please note that it's owner grew up wearing unclaimed shirts from our family laundry business.

I paid 75 and 80 euro, respectively, for the ones in the photo. I was in a hurry when I was in the shop, so I just bought and ran, but I got the impression that MTM isn't significantly more.

Nothing much to report, I'm afraid, I helped myself to it from our host's closet after our luggage was lost. It's extremely fuzzy/shaggy, and was very comfortable.

I was also curious about this and asked my tailor once. His explanation was that a matching split yoke creates a an inverted V/ chevron while a mitered/ mitred split yoke goes further as to ensure that the stripes are matched to form a 90 degree angle.

Is this also how you guys understand it to be?
